On Patrol: Live Summary for March 16, 2024 (#OPL Episode 02-60)

  • Berkeley County, S.C. — Cpls. Carli Drayton and Devonte Carr, Sgt. Paul Yacobozzi, and other officers assist in the pursuit of a an alleged hit-and-run vehicle. Cops drag the driver out of the car and take her into custody. Weed allegedly found in the vehicle.

Sgt, Yacobozzi summary: “Right now, we got the suspect in custody. We pulled up; we were able to… extract her from the vehicle. She’s extremely impaired. Slurred speech, clothes are falling off, not normal behavior. I don’t know the status of the pedestrian’s injuries right now. As of right now, it sounds like if highway patrol has the felony hit-and-run charges. We’re gonna talk to them, confer with them, if they want to handle the DUI part. If not, we’ll handle that. But at a minimum, she’s facing a failure to stop for blue lights from us for running. We’re gonna look at the car. Luckily, we didn’t have to PIT anybody tonight because I’m in a brand-new car. So that’s a plus. But right now, she’s gonna be going to jail. We’re gonna check on the pedestrian, continue our investigation. Dan Abrams: “Now we may know why Sergeant Yacobozzi kept asking who has the oldest vehicle. He didn’t want to mess up his new car!” Cpl. Carr adds that she may face another charge for damaging government property because she’s in the back of the police car allegedly “kicking and trying to damage the vehicle.” read more

  • Indian River County, Fla. — Dep. Brandon McKenzie and other units conduct a traffic stop at gunpoint on a motorist who allegedly strangled his girlfriend. The man is detained after somewhat not initially following officer commands and is argumentative afterwards. “I didn’t do nothing.” Caption: “Suspect in custody.”

Dep. Tony Le: “So this is the male we’re looking for with the felony strangulation charges. You can tell he’s pretty noncompliant…he’s putting himself and others in danger. We’re gonna get him in a car and let him clam down a little bit, Mirandize him and question him about his side of the disturbance, but according to the unit on scene at the disturbance, the female’s got lacerations, bruisings, and evident injuries to the crime that she’s alleging.” read more

On Patrol: Live Summary for March 2, 2024 (#OPL Episode 02-56)

  • Daytona Beach, Fla. — Sgts. Mike Bryant and Marcus Booth respond to a report to someone allegedly trying to break in to cars. The alleged suspect is described as a man wearing a pink dress. A suspect is detained at the lobby of a motel at taser point. He is Mirandized and arrested for loitering and prowling.
  • Lee County, Fla. — Dep. Ryan LIneberger and other units respond to a 911 hang-up call in which a woman was allegedly heard screaming for help. Two men detained outside a residence who may be victims. Paramedics also respond. A piece of wood was allegedly used in a possible assault. Dep. Lineberger: “We responded for a call for service in reference to a 9-1-1 hang-up…Two of the victims have…injuries, however, they are not cooperating with us, and they are not willing to press charges at this time. So we’re still trying to figure out if we can get some sort of level of cooperation and make contact with our suspect who’s possibly inside the residence right now.” Studio host Dan Abrams: “So the investigation now begins here. This could end up being some serious charges here.”

Dep. Lineberger update: “Now, again, we have an aggravated battery incident with two victims that are wiling to proceed with charges. We are trying to secure two separate residences. It’s a large duplex. Upon securing the house for a search warrant, we located an individual that was hiding inside of the bathroom with his pants down below his ankles. We were able to detain him quickly with no use of force or anything like that. So he’s in custody right now. We have a second individual that’s in custody that’s a person of interest. And we’re gonna be having our violent crimes detectives coming out to do a search warrant on the home and collect any items of evidentiary value and bring justice to the wrongdoing that was done here today.” Dan Abrams: “So as we expected, some serious charges potentially coming here. But what was interesting to me was the fact that initially it seemed that the victims didn’t want to cooperate. That’s what we heard at the beginning of this. Now they can move forward and will move forward with charges in particular because they do have cooperative victims now.” Guest analyst Ofr. Ryan Tillman: “It sounds like somebody knew that they were going to jail tonight. So usually when that happens, a lot of times people will start to cooperate more than they typically would because they’re nervous now, like, ‘hey, I might get found out.'” Abrams: “And they also want to do the best police work they can in trying to convince people to cooperate. And that’s what we see a lot of the time with officers who are on these scenes.” read more
