Former Live PD host Dan Abrams claims that “active and ongoing discussions” are underway about possibly bringing back the immensely popular law-enforcement ride-along TV show.
As this blog has reported about the show’s abrupt cancellation by panicky executives in June, viewership for A&E, Live PD‘s ex-network home, have evaporated, with presumably associated massive losses in revenue.
Abrams took to Twitter to explain what is supposedly going on.
So many of you have been asking about the future of #LivePD and I don’t want you to think I’m ignoring you. The bottom line is that I continue to advocate strongly for its return (with some behind the scenes protocol changes). While. . .as of today I don’t yet have the answers to most of your questions about how or when the show could come back, please know that there are active and ongoing discussions and as soon as I know more I promise to share it. I/we care deeply about the #LivePDNation and . . .I believe the show can be an important part of the national discussion about policing in America. So please stay tuned. . .and thanks to all of you!
Live PD Nation has made it evident, and continues to do so, that it does not want the show to be watered down, however, by political correctness or virtue signaling, making the scope of the “protocol changes” significant for audience acceptance.
When Live PD — one of the most popular shows in the entire cable television space — was still airing, this blog provided weekly show summaries. This content will resume if or when Live PD goes back into operation.
Check back for updates on the possibility of Live PD 2.0.
In the meantime, here’s a sample of how Live PD Nation reacted to the Abrams tweets:
🖤💙🖤Thank You, we the #LivePDNation are praying for its return and continue to boycott the shit out of @AETV UNTIL #LivePD returns in its ORGIONAL FORM. We wont take anything less. I appreciate the update I hope its able to make a return. Thanks for the work behind the scenes.

I still cant believe A and E Executives pulled this down….

LIVEPD. Shows the public how police serve…. no editing…no retakes… no excuses
Plus. The bonus jokes. From the team. Sticks…TMjr.
I need my Live PD…… there are more …many more of us…out here
If its not the same show, then forget it. We aren’t interested in discussions about policing and the controversy that’s going on right now. If its not the same Live PD then don’t bother. The ratings won’t be worth your time, in all honesty.

I’m sure you want the show to return – esp because of the huge paycheck you receive each episode. I’d be fighting for it too. However don’t bow down the the liberals and their cancel culture in order to do so. Keep the portrayal of law enforcement exactly as it was.

Thank you for trying. I would be more pleased if the show was kept the same but the behind the scenes particulars were firmed up to benefit all, the police, victims and criminals. LEOs need the support, and if the keep getting defunded, we should all start making our Purge lists.

I appreciate the update but in reality, Live PD was pretty heavily curated from season 2 on, so I’m not sure what more they could do to satisfy the overly sensitive woke mob worried about looking bad on camera when out doing bad things.

Please keep fighting to get PD LIVE back on the air. The country needs to see that the police are people that care.

Find a different network. I’m sure others would love to have the audience that a a&e turned away.
— Crypto King (@whenbullrun) August 11, 2020
I appreciate your candidness. As long as it comes back I’ll be happy. At this point I can’t justify watching A&E or any related channels. I support the lawfully good LEOs and condemn those who aren’t. Your show allowed the world to see the world both good and bad.

Sorry about your other shows Dan but I will not turn on @AETV until live pd is reinstated. In the meantime I’ll continue the boycott until the network collapses.

It was a positive reenforcement of police while it was on. I can understand a temporary stoppage in filming, due to increased antagonism against police, but flat out cancellation was a slap in the face. I hope the sponsors are struggling with their costly decision.

Thank you for the update. I miss watching #LivePD and look forward to its return. But, if you cave the Social Justice Warriors, I won’t watch. Let them create their own show, build a fan base, and compete for ratings instead of hijacking the most popular show on cable.

Dan, remind the suits at A&E that they were PLENTY HAPPY with all the profits from LivePD, but RUN LIKE COWARDS way from law enforcement at the very moment they need the most support. I’m DISGUSTED!
— Diane Barstow (@NanaBarstow) August 11, 2020
It humanized police forces across the country. It’s is sorely missed and an absolute travesty that A & E decides to pull it.
— Ben Daubmire (@BenDaubmire) August 11, 2020
We hate to see it come back on A&E and we hope you are actively speaking to other networks. I doubt any LEO would want to return after the cancel culture they chose first. No respect#BlueLivesMatter

The way I see it, A&E Caved to a small minority of viewers with over-sized voices, who continuously besieged the network, throwing tantrums along the way, until they were happy in depriving the majority of us, of programming that was enjoyed immensely.
These are the same cretins who are responsible for burning and looting and killing in left-wing America.
What a crowd to bow down to.
No thanks.
I’ll continue on without A&E.
