Whether it’s because of his outsized, boastful salesman personality, the hair, or the spray tan, the doomsday-is-nigh mainstream media has conducted an obsessive, irrational vendetta against U.S. President Donald Trump. The media treats developments in the news cycle like the end of the world, and doomsday is at hand. Then it’s on to the next controversy du jour. Let’s stipulate the president can sometimes be his own worst enemy by stepping on and/or obscuring his message and accomplishments with needless feuds and overly combative or imprecise rhetoric. Whether you like his demeanor or not, however, the Trump’s MAGA agenda — in fulfillment of campaign promises perhaps like no other president — is all about making America stronger, safer, and more prosperous.

While the POTUS is often accused of being a divisive leader, the “fake news” media bear responsibility for promoting divisiveness by its unrelenting negativity toward all things Trump. Although Trump stands accused of undermining press freedom, has any journalist, lawmaker, or celebrity been kept from aggressively scolding him even in the most profane way?

The click-baitey media also tends to elevate petty matters that make the Trump administration look bad way out of proportion, even though you can tell just by the headline that many of these stories will be stealth-corrected, retracted, walked-back, or clarified within a few hours. None of this has stopped the media from taking one cheap shot after another.

It’s generally with the bigger issues that the left-liberal mainstream media and virtue signaling blue-check Twitter invokes the full-on doomsday rhetoric.

Trump Doomsday Syndrome

Recall that for the cultish media echo chamber, the world was ending with a so-called government shutdown, when Trump moved the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, when the two-year-old net neutrality regulation was repealed, Congress passed the Trump tax cuts, when Trump announced a Syrian troop withdrawal, or when he imposed tariffs on imports.

The same hysteria emerged when, as he promised, Trump exited the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the Paris Climate Accord, and the Iran Nuclear Deal.

The Deep State establishment and the globalist Democrat-media complex claimed Trump was heading toward a war with North Korea and then ripped him for sitting down at the peace table with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

News outlets denounced the president for failing to visit U.S. troops in Iraq and then condemned him for visiting U.S. troops in Iraq over Christmas.

The list goes on.

Like the London-centric, anti-Brexit media in the U.K., when push comes to shove, news agencies here at home seem to presumptively accept the globalist, open-borders perspective at face value rather than one that will benefit everyday Americans. In other words, the media’s agenda seems to be America Last rather than First.

This is same scientifically challenged media that never met a pharmaceutical drug that it didn’t love.

And compare the way the media treats Melania Trump vs. Michelle Obama.

Moreover, the media, which never called out the Obama administration in eight years over its many obfuscations that had real-world consequences, constantly accuses Trump and his associates of lying. There were virtually no calls for fact-checking the Obama presidency, but it’s grounds for impeachment when Trump exaggerates.

Doom and Gloom

Says law professor Ann Althouse:

“I’ll just add that I can barely read the news these days (and I absolutely cannot watch it on TV). The negativity toward Trump is so relentless, cluttering up everything. It’s crying wolf times a thousand. If anything is worth taking seriously, I’m afraid I won’t be able to notice.”

The prevailing atmospherics, which prompted Trump to refer to some in the media as “crazed lunatics,” kind of make you want to avoid any cable news channel and instead head over the Hallmark Channel for some entertainment.

Notes Liz Shields of PJ Media:

“It’s not hard to understand why the media is hated and viewed as untrustworthy. There is an unprecedented amount of media labor directed at assaulting the president regarding any trivial issue. President Trump’s recent trip to visit Iraq really triggered the crazy to come out. Maybe it was because the media enjoyed wagging their finger at the president because he hadn’t visited the troops? Whoops.”

Media columnist Joe Concha suggested on TV recently that anti-Trump pundits may be “play-acting,” which implies they will do anything for a payday. That applies to the shamelessly sanctimonious GOP Never Trumpers who put the “con” in conservative.

Non-Fake News

Real Clear Politics contributor Steve Cortes outlines the top 10 Trump achievements for 2018:

  • The Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court appointment
  • Confronting China on unfair trade practices
  • Middle-class pay increases
  • Replacing NAFTA with a more even-handed U.S-Mexico-Canada Trade Deal
  • Exiting the Iran Nuclear Deal
  • Moving the embassy to Jerusalem: “Past presidents promised for decades to make this move and U.S. law has required it since 1995, but only President Trump made good on his pledge, honored our ally, and recognized the obvious reality that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Israel.”
  • Neutralizing ISIS
  • Surging minority employment. “If Trump is actually racist, as biased mainstream media ‘journalists’ often claim, he’s remarkably bad at it, because people of color have thrived under the pro-growth policies of the Trump Boom.”
  • “Holding the Line with Migrant Caravans”
  • “Record American Oil Production”

Although downplayed by the media, President Trump also pushed for and signed into law criminal justice reform, which surprisingly earned him some rare praise from some far-left foes.

Added Real Clear Politics:

“There were missteps, to be sure.  For example, the Helsinki press conference with Vladimir Putin belied the normally assertive Trump.  Still, good news abounded in 2018 as America reaped the benefits of a commander-in-chief committed to restoring the greatness of our republic.  The intelligentsia of the permanent political class may howl, and complicit pseudo-journalists will balk, but the reality of the Trump track record reveals a country growing in prosperity and security.”

Doomsday or a New Day?

In addition to two SCOTUS appointees, Trump has also installed a record number of constitutionalist judges in the lower federal courts, and Lindsay Graham 2.0, the new Senate Judiciary Committee chairman, has vowed to keep up the pace with pending and future nominees.

Do you think there is any hope that the “opposition party” media will overcome its Trump Derangement Syndrome and will dial back its doomsday approach to day-to-day developments? Comment below.

Added: In reacting on Periscope to President Trump’s national address about the border wall, and the response by “political zombies” Chuck and Nancy, Dilbert cartoonist Scott Adams observed the following about the media (i.e., the press):

“The reason the government doesn’t work is because the press is broken…the government can’t work if the press doesn’t work. And in that world, President Trump’s criticism of the press is entirely legitimate it seems….who told you that it is wrong for a president to criticize the press? The press. The press told you that it’s illegitimate for the president who they’ve been hammering with fake news to criticize the press. Think about that…The press has pretended that it is not the press telling you that the press should not be criticized. At the same time the press is doing something so bad to the country that if there was a way to make it illegal, it should happen — but I don’t think there is any way to do that with a First Amendment, free speech framework…”

And at a time when the term collusion has gained currency, FNC host Laura Ingraham noted the collusion between the media and the open-borders Democrats.
