This Weekend’s On Patrol: Live Highlights, Commentary, and Social Media Activity

On Patrol: Live Season 4: An On Patrol: Live recap, usually featuring NYC studio host/executive producer Dan Abrams’ puns, analysis, and witty/sarcastic banter with co-anchor Curtis Wilson (a Richland County, S.C., deputy sheriff), and analyst Captain Tom Rizzo (Howell Township, N.J., PD), along with the often-provocative or playful social media reaction, follows.

Retired Tulsa, Okla., cop Sean “Sticks” Larkin, a former On Patrol: Live co-host, joins the analyst panel this weekend, and Ashleigh Banfield substitutes for Dan Abrams as host.

For those new to the show, On Patrol Live on the Reelz channel is more or less a reboot or rebrand of Live PD.

On Patrol: Live Tonight

For separate reasons, traffic stops in Richland County, S.C., Hazen, Ark., Knox County, Tenn., and a huge spider in Knox County are among the incidents that captured the attention of #OPNation on this all-new episode of On Patrol: Live.

In this episode anchored by guest host Ashleigh Banfield, the studio technician who operates the bleep button earned his or her salary and then some, given the numerous incidents where subjects spewed profanity. In fact, this episode might have set a record for on-scene cursing. For this On Patrol: Live episode guide, see below for details on all 22 law enforcement incidents across nine On Patrol: Live scheduled police departments. And check back for updates.

On Patrol: Live Recap for August 22, 2025 (#OPL Episode 04-13)

On-Patrol-Live-stats-08_22_25
  • Richland County, S.C. — Captain Danny Brown makes a friendly traffic stop. Alleged odor of weed. The driver is detained. Tickets issued for suspended license and alleged reckless driving. Captain Brown advises the man to go to DMV to get his license reinstated and implies that if the driver comes to the court, the tickets may be dropped. “Leave the green and alcohol alone before you get behind the wheel of a vehicle…I could smell it coming off your beard and your breath.” Captain Brown knows the driver from a previous encounter. “You were super cool that night with me. You just were smoking and drinking that night too, and that’s how you got pulled over…you famous…Mickey Mouse famous…”

“Leave the green and alcohol alone before you get behind the wheel of a vehicle…”

Captain Brown recap: “Last time I seen him was actually one of the show nights we were working, and he was going up one of our main roads with no lights on, had a lot of devil’s lettuce in the back…and quite a few pounds of devil’s lettuce in the back. And he was super calm that night, too. And he was smoking weed going down the road, drinking that night, close to the same stuff he’s doing now. Super cool. So we’re gonna stroke him a ticket for driving on suspension and reckless, and he’ll have his court date. No sense locking him up for it…”

  • Hazen, Ark. — Chief Bradley Taylor and Sergeant Clayton Dillion initiate a traffic stop allegedly for speeding. While standing outside the car, the driver appears to toss a baggie and is subdued. On Patrol: Live caption: “Methamphetamine found.” The driver appears unable to complete a PBT test. The passenger is also detained. Sgt. Dillion to the passenger: “Ma’am, you’re on three cameras, okay, so just relax. He had a big bag of meth in his pocket; another bag of meth in his other pocket.. He’s under arrest.” Car towed.

Chief Taylor to the driver: “…this is the least of your worries…this is like idiot proof, okay…I’ve had old women with emphysema can blow in this thing…take a deep breath and blow like you’re glowing up a balloon…you’re sucking. You can’t suck. You got to blow…you got a lot of quit in you…this tests alcohol. When I do a blood test, it tests for drugs, too…”

Chief Taylor: “You’re sucking. You can’t suck. You got to blow…”

Listen to Chief Taylor’s comment about the incident in which he also mentions that the female also took a PBT:

  • Daytona Beach, Fla. — Officer Jonathan Muniz investigates an alleged domestic dispute and makes contact with a male who was allegedly threatened by his girlfriend.
  • Knox County, Tenn. — K9 Officer Zachary Doss and other units conduct a traffic stop outside a hotel. Two occupants. According to Officer Doss, a male occupant was allegedly “digging” when they asked him to step out of the vehicle. He briefly resists outside the car and is subdued. K9 alert; probable cause car search. On Patrol: Live caption: “Drug paraphernalia found.” The subject allegedly may have warrants.

Listen as the studio panel discusses a scenario when a subject reaches or makes furtive movements when On Patrol: live substitute host Ashleigh Banfield initially observes “that went sideways quickly…comply, oh how simple it is”:

  • Moore, Okla. — Officer Koalton Keller assists a possibly disabled vehicle (per Banfield) or what starts out as a friendly traffic stop. Officer Keller to the driver: “It’s just odd that whenever I got behind you, and then you pulled in front of somebody’s house, and I’m just checking to make sure you’re not about to go steal something…” Driver: “…I’m working on a house over here…I do the make-readies on them…” K9 alert; car search. Drug paraphernalia allegedly found.
  • Christian County, MO. (pre-recorded segment) — Banfield intro: “What started as a messy domestic situation took a dangerous turn.” Deputy Trevor Guinn and other units respond to a stabbing incident. Police arrest a female on scene. The victim denies medical attention.

Listen to Deputy Guinn summarize the incident followed by studio panel commentary:

  • Knox County, Tenn. — K9 Officer Joseph Stainback conducts a traffic stop on a “Thot Patrol” truck for allegedly passing a vehicle in a lane that is not used for passing.
  • Moore, Okla. — Officer Trey Martin and other cops converge outside Walmart and detain an alleged shoplifter as she is about to exit the store.

On Patrol: Live Hour 2

  • Baton Rouge, La. — Corporal Wendy George responds to the scene of an alleged father-son domestic incident. Banfield: “That is never easy when you see something between father and son like that.” On Patrol: Live guest analyst Sean Larkin: “At any age…obviously going through some problems…” An officer on scene claims the son in a “severely intoxicated state.” On Patrol: Live does not provide an update but it seems like cops may take him into protective custody for his own safety under Louisiana law.
  • Richland County, S.C. (pre-recorded segment) — Banfield: “Deputy Andreona Sanders attempted to pull over a motorcycle, but the motorcycle apparently had other plans.” Deputy Sanders and other units pursue the motorcycle at alleged speeds of 100 mph-plus. No tag. The driver finally stops and is detained.

Deputy Sanders recap: “So talking to the driver, he said that he ran from us because he doesn’t have a license. Like I was telling him, we could’ve worked something out, and he could have went home tonight. He’s gonna be charged with driving under suspension third offense, failure to stop for blue lights, and reckless driving.”

Back in the studio (listen below), Banfield starts a discussion about motorcycle pursuits by quipping that “you really are at a disadvantage when you can’t use stop sticks, right, Sticks?”

  • Clayton County, Ga. — Lieutenant Jonathan Carey and Deputy Malik Clark respond to a report of an alleged carjacking. The suspect driver of a U-Haul truck foot bails. A gun is allegedly found in the abandoned truck. Cops make contact with U-Haul employees on scene who provide information. On Patrol: Live caption: “Search for suspect.” The suspect, who supposedly was wearing a turban, is at large.

Banfield: “The air tag for the win…as the investigation continues.”

Listen to Deputy Clark’s recap:

  • Triple Play #1 — Part 1. Banfield: “It was all hands on deck, literally deck, attempting to track down a stolen yacht,” in Martin County, Fla.
  • Richland County, S.C. — Captain Brown makes a friendly traffic stop. Two female occupants, ages 19 and 20. Captain Brown: “Marijuana smoke’s pouring out of your car when I’m behind you…the odor of marijuana coming out of your car is super strong…you can’t smoke and drive…” Car search. The occupants are subsequently released with no charges.
  • Knox County, Tenn. — Officer Stainback and other cops respond to a fight in progress at a high school football game. On scene, Officer Stainback mentions that “it would appear that most of it’s calmed down now. Obviously, they have our sheriff’s deputes and our school division that works here on the premises. Kind of controlled somewhat now. We’re gonna hang out for them just to see if anything else stirs back up or whatever they may need, but it looks like most likely everybody’s getting out of here, and we’ll go from there.”
  • Richland County, S.C. (pre-recorded segment) — Master Deputy Justin Jeffcoat and other cops respond to a fight in progress at a dollar store and detain a man on scene.

Deputy Jeffcoat recap: “We were already looking for him for a separate call where he vandalized a house. So he came to this store; for some reason, he just assaulted the two employees, jumped the counter, started assaulting them. Some people that were in the store broke it up. So we’re gonna have a malicious injury to personal property [unintelligible], and then two assault charges, Luckily, there’s some good people inside, and they were able to pull him off of the two female victims inside, He appears to be extremely intoxicated, and we’re not really sure what caused all this, but there we are.”

On Patrol: Live Hour 3

  • Triple Play #1 — Part 2. A Martin County, Fla., stolen yacht.
  • Lee County, Fla. –– Deputy Violet Mendez makes a wellness check on a bicyclist. “I think you should probably go to the hospital. Did you take something?” On Patrol: Live caption: “Human kickstand?” Paramedics summoned to the scene. Deputy Mendez: “I’m calling an ambulance for you…I want to make sure you’re safe, okay? I don’t know what kind of drugs you took…”

Deputy Mendez in a phone conversation to perhaps a superior officer: “…he’s like nodding off, can barely stand, can barely keep his eyes open…” She makes reference to possibly invoking the Marchman Act. Banfield: “Rizzo and I had the same idea…if it were yoga, I’m gonna ask you what pose is it?” On Patrol: Live studio analyst Tom Rizzo: ..that’s called the pre-arrest pose…” On Patrol: Live co-host Curtis Wilson: “It’s crazy that those who are under the influence of whatever, they seem to have the best balance…” Banfield: “I say he’s headed into chair pose…”

  • Knox County, Tenn. — Officer Doss makes a traffic stop. No insurance. It sounds like the driver will be released with a warning. The On Patrol: Live cameras spot what appears to be a huge spider. Banfield: “Still trying to figure out how big that spider was because the camera moved off it so quickly.” Larkin: “I just know where I don’t want my car to break down at.” Rizzo: “It’s like Jumanji there…”
  • BOLO — A Chambersburg, Pa., thrift store thief.
  • Knox County, Tenn. — Officer Doss makes a traffic stop on a truck. K9 Enoch alerts prompting a vehicle search. Per Banfield, a possible jar of synthetic marijuana allegedly found. Banfield update: “He was released and not charged.”
  • Richland County, S.C. — Captain Brown makes contact with four people next to a vehicle. Captain Brown: “You cant be loitering in parking lots. We got drug activities in these parking lots, so you can’t be drinking out here in a parking lot…you guys are being recorded, so just be cool…you are loitering out in a parking lot behind a business in an area that I have frequently came across narcotics…somebody’s gonna come out here in the middle of the night and rob y’all…” Car search. Banfield update: “They were given a warning, and they were released.”
  • Baton Rouge, La. — Officer Ben D’Armond and other units investigate an alleged machete threat in a residential area. Police encounter a man on scene and tase him. Police arrest him.

Officer D’Armond recap: “..we got here; the complainant said that he had pulled a machete on her son, threatened him, so went to go to talk to him. Started walking away from us, so tried to give him commands to stop moving, sit down, and come see us, and he wasn’t listening, so he got tased, and didn’t really put up a fight, just kind of resisted a little bit…we’re on the ground trying to tell him to give us his hands, and he’s holding them underneath him, so I think I got hit with a taser again. So had to take a little bit of force to get him in custody, but we’re obviously gonna be talking to the complainant and see further about what exactly happened up here.”

Listen to Officer D’Armond’s additional information about this incident:

  • Daytona Beach, Fla. — Officer Gabriel Marquez makes a wellness check on an allegedly intoxicated, vocal female sitting on the ground. Paramedics on scene.

Listen to Officer Marquez’s summary of this incident:
