On Patrol: Live Season 4, All-New Episode, Tonight
On this Valentine’s Day weekend, an On Patrol: Live recap of the televised police ride-alongs, plus commentary from studio host/executive producer Dan Abrams with two captains — studio analyst Tom Rizzo (Howell Township, N.J., PD) and guest studio analyst Khaliqa Wheatley (Walton County, Fla, sheriff’s office) — follows. This recap also includes the often-provocative or playful social media reaction to the incidents in the field

As #OPNation (i.e., the show’s followers) is well aware, and for those viewers and/or social media users new to the program, On Patrol Live on Reelz is more or less a reboot or rebrand of Live PD.

Updates from Last Weekend
On Patrol: Live Tonight — Friday the 13th Edition
A Clayton County standoff, shots fired in both Daytona Beach and Clayton County, and various traffic stops and disturbances in the various jurisdictions were notable in this all-new episode of On Patrol: Live on Reelz. The studio tech who runs the bleep button was very busy during this edition of the show.

In this On Patrol: Live episode guide, see below for details on all 21 law enforcement encounters across 10 On Patrol: Live scheduled police departments on the current roster (although Christian County and Lee County did not appear). Check back for updates.
On Patrol: Live host Dan Abrams: “We are gonna have a lot to update you on tomorrow on First Shift.”
Programming Notes
There were no Triple Play segments on Friday night. In fact, no pre-recorded segments aired at all in this new episode tonight, which may be a first for On Patrol: Live.
Curtis Wilson is again not in the Jersey City, N.J., On Patrol: Live studio this weekend. Common sense suggests that the longtime OPL co-host and Richland County, S.C., deputy sheriff is, or might be, more or less on part-time status with the show under his current contract because his appearances on OPL have become increasingly rare.

- Baton Rouge, La. — Officer Devon Johnson conducts a traffic stop on a truck allegedly for tail light issues and failure to signal. The motorist is somewhat irate. Abrams: “This would be the difference between a non-functioning tail light and a nonexistent tail light.” Corporal Brett Usey provides zip ties so that the driver can attach his license plate to the rear of the vehicle. The driver is apparently released with a warning.
#OPLive I'm gonna take a wild guess here and say this dude is not on Angie's list 😂😂😂
— Brian Francis Nearey (@BrianFr11473) February 14, 2026
Abrams: “Captain Tom Rizzo, you said you were not surprised that Corporal [Brett] Usey had the zip ties in his car.” Rizzo: “Zero shock. Anybody’s gonna be able to fix that situation and have the tools on hand…he’s got duct tape. I’m gonna guarantee you, got WD-40. He’s got it all…” Abrams: “Like that old show, Let’s Make a Deal…it’s like ‘who’s got a toothbrush, who’s got this?’…” Captain Wheatley: “It could be flex cuffs…I think he’s probably missing a bungee cord. Didn’t he have that last time?” Rizzo: “He’s a walking Leatherman.”
- Toledo, Oho — On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of foot pursuit.” Officers Jack Oberthaler and Stone York head to the scene to assist. Officer Oberthaler: “…He was originally stopped a bike. Sounds like he went down an alley, ditched the bike, took off on foot, and we’re just kind of in the area right now. They think he may have hunkered down in one of these yards…”
- Hazen, Ark. — Chief Bradley Taylor makes a traffic stop at a rest area. Alleged odor of weed. Chief Taylor: “You know what makes it illegal? You sitting behind the steering wheel smoking pot.” On Patrol: Live caption: “Marijuana found.”The driver, who apparently has a medical marijuana card, is released with a warning that he risks a DUI if he drives while allegedly high.
Oooo @chiefbtaylor is starting to have a nose like @thundacat830 now!! #OPLive
— Kendra Leoni (@BellaKendra) February 14, 2026
Abrams: “We’ve seen so many times on this show…see people with marijuana, and the answer is, ‘just stomp it out…this isn’t a big deal to me.’ But when you start getting into lying about it, and make them search, makes them more suspicious, and wonder what else is in the car because the truth can set you free.”
#OPLive Chief on every call just increases his greatness and is always educating not just the people he stops, but all of us I think…

They then detain a younger man on scene. Sgt. Okoya’s preliminary assessment: “So as of right now, what we got is this male, I guess, invited him inside of his house, and he broke into his actual room and started pushing him and hitting him. So the person I just talked to Maced him….in self-defense just to get him away. So he said he wants to press charges. So we’ll get in contact with him. We’re probably gonna have to get him medical attention since he’s got Mace on his face, but well get in contact with him, and see his side of the story.”

Abrams: “So the other guy involved here, saying that he was sort of serving as a good Samaritan, taking the guy in, that’s what he said. And it didn’t pay off.” Rizzo: “And even if he doesn’t want to press charges, right, that’s like what we talk about, in a protective custody situation…” Abrams: “Well, we were getting nervous watching him walk in the street…we were like, ‘whoa.’..” Rizzo: “…he’s got Mace in his face. He’s having a rough go.”

Sgt. Okoya update: “So we made contact with the other half. Obviously, as you guys can tell, he didn’t really say too much…it’s not really a crime for the guy not liking you. So he’s gonna be going to jail tonight for battery on a 65-year-old male. He’s highly intoxicated or possibly on narcotics. He’s gonna go the hospital also because he got Maced. So after he goes and clears the hospital, he’s gonna be going to jail today.” Abrams: “That would be defined for anyone as a bad day.”

George to the male: “You can’t tell somebody what they can and can’t wear…she’s a grown person…you can’t hold somebody hostage because…they’re not wearing the right shorts…” On Patrol: Live caption: “Just say yes to the dress.” Abrams: “This might be called a waste of time for law enforcement.” Captain Wheatley: “Yes: This is a conversation they could’ve had at the house before they left.” Abrams: “Rather than having him sitting on the car.”

He’s a cocaine user, but he said he doesn’t have any on him today. So he gave us consent to search the car…and see what we can find.” On Patrol: Live captions: “Coke in the coke?,” “Cocaine found.” The driver is detained. - Baton Rouge, La. — Officers Johnson and Caruntal Harrell on a traffic stop. The two male occupants are subsequently released with no charges.
- Clayton County, Ga. — Deputy Devon Brown is one of many police officers who converge on a residence on a report of a barricaded suspect. Lieutenant Joseph Toombs, who is back on duty from the January 31 officer-involved shooting, is among the cops on scene. Abrams: “…time is on their side. So they’re going to take their time here, [not] rush in…” Sergeant Nimmons, a police negotiator on scene, speaks with the subject on the phone to get his side of the story and convince him to come out: “Just because your a convicted felon, it doesn’t mean that your a bad person…” Captain Wheatley: “…At this point, he just wants to be heard. Who doesn’t, right? So she’s working…to kind of get his behavior to change…she’s also trying to build that empathy with him…” SWAT also deploys to the location. The standoff remains unresolved during the show.

- Toledo, Ohio — Detectives Mychael McAninch and Jeff Milum on a traffic stop for allegedly running a red light and a potential window tint infraction. No valid license. The driver is released with a warning and told to park the car on a side street. Abrams: “And he still didn’t say thank you.”

- Hazen, Ark. — Chief Taylor makes a traffic stop on an 18-wheeler that allegedly almost struck his squad car: “You almost clipped me…instead of moving to the left, you crossed over, and hit the rumble strip…” The friendly motorist, who apparently is a “novice truck driver,” is released with a warning. As an aside, Chief Taylor quips “In a week worth of training, they turn you loose. And they think police need more training.” Abrams: “Look into taxi driving — starting with a smaller car, less challenging.” Rizzo: “Smart car and then move up.”

- Knox County, Tenn. — Officer Devon Wirtley and other cops make friendly contact and have a wide-ranging, and perhaps a TMI, conversation with two female pedestrians, one of whom an officer gives a ride home. Abrams: “Now I think they found the allegedly drunk young woman at the McDonald’s…remember, a friend said that she was drunk, and she was going to McDonald’s, but didn’t have money.” On Patrol: Live caption: “Situationship explained.” Officer Wirtley: “Well, turns out it’s just a couple of drunk girls walking around at night; one of them wanted a coke at McDonald’s. So they both checked out. They’re not in trouble or anything. They just need to make better decisions.” Abrams: “And she also gets a ride home.”
