Officer Yule-Zaagman recap: “My partner here had stopped this vehicle because the tag didn’t come back. And upon searching the vehicle, there was some what appeared to be a narcotic found in this individual’s wallet. He’s on probation, so he’s probably gonna take a ride for it tonight.”

  • Richland County, S.C. — Captain Danny Brown conducts a traffic stop outside a motel on a car with an open trunk . “Super strong” smell of weed from the vehicle, and “super illegal” window tint. Car search; open container and blunt allegedly found. The driver is ultimately released with a warning. “You get a DUI for smoking and driving; same thing as drinking alcohol and driving.”

  • Knox County, Tenn. — Officer Christian Monroe and other cops serve a felony warrant at a motel. On Patrol: Live caption: “Suspect in custody.” A woman on scene is released. Guest #OPL analyst Captain Kory Flowers discusses the “rules of engagement” in serving a warrant of this location: “They couldn’t force entry to get the wanted person because it sounds like, in this situation, the room wasn’t registered to that person as opposed to if you were looking for him at his house where you could confirm that he owned the property. So they had to start with what we call a knock-and-talk, just knock and having a consensual encounter at the door, like anybody else would. And then they asked and looked at the guy from there.” Deputy Curtis Wilson, On Patrol: Live co-host: “You saw those officers there as well. They’re not sure exactly what they’re gonna encounter. So strength in numbers will help lessen anybody getting hurt on one side or the other side.” On Patrol: Live host Dan Abrams: “Because that’s a question a lot of people ask a lot of times, like ‘why are there so many officers there for this particular warrant?’ When they got them, they’re gonna to use them.”
  • Clayton County, Ga. — Deputy Rob Fleming and colleagues make a traffic stop . The male subject, “Andrew,” who allegedly provided a fake ID, and seems to be generally nonresponsive, is sweating profusely and appears to pass out. Abrams: “They believe he’s acting here.” Deputy Fleming: “You’re sweating like a mug…who are you?…It’s over, the game is over…but I need you to tell me who you really are. It’s over, bro. We’re street cops. We do this all day…” The subject also may have pooped on himself. Police eventually ID the individual through facial recognition on the law enforcement database and determine that he allegedly has a warrant for failure to appear in court on a charge of aggravated assault. Deputy Fleming, who had anticipated a pending warrant, mentions that a false ID is a felony under state law. Car towed. Deputy Fleming asserts that his police team receives training on picking up “lies and indicators, fake IDS, and everything else.” Fire Department paramedics finally arrive on scene to render aid to the man who continues to perspire. A female companion who just met him is released with an admonishment not to get into a car with strangers. Abrams quips that “just a reminder that dating is not easy.” Wilson: “You got to vet and then vet again.” [See update below]

“Andrew, what’s your name, buddy?…I need to know who you are…whoa, you’re sweating, bro!”

Abrams: “You know who should be most relieved by this revelation is that woman who is on her presumably first date with this guy and said she just got divorced recently. And this was like the first guy she’d gone out with…slim pickings. She should be relieved at least that it’s been exposed that this guy had a warrant.”

Abrams responds to #OPNation: “A lot of you were asking about EMS, his medical condition, et cetera. An ambulance did come and check him out, and his vitals were fine. He was then arrested. So that’s the update there.”

  • Lee County, Fla. — Deputy Ryan Lineberger assists at the scene where a suspect allegedly set fire to towels on the side of the road. On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of drunk fire starter.” Police apparently are familiar with a suspect who allegedly engaged in property damage about a month ago.
  • Monroe, La.-– Officer Nathanael Chapman and Corporal Kelsie Wilson are dispatched to a fight in progress at a restaurant/bar. The location appears quiet however, suggesting that any possible suspects had already left the area.
  • Berkeley County, S.C. (pre-recorded segment) — Deputy Bradley Brown detains a man at a bar who allegedly is a serial dine/drink and dasher. Another patron pays the man’s tab. Video purportedly exists of the same subject allegedly leaving another restaurant or tavern without paying. The subject is trespassed and released but Deputy Brown intends to seek a warrant for the previous incident.
https://twitter.com/EricCuellar16/status/1890952467673682130
  • Las Vegas, Nev. — Officer Tyler Hauger detains a man at a fast-food restaurant for allegedly trying to pay with a fake $100 bill. On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of counterfeit money.” The subject denies the allegation: “I’ve done nothing wrong, sir.”
https://twitter.com/JohnCFirk/status/1890964187037176248

Officer Hauger recap: “So this male, obviously, was a little difficult to deal with. That was definitely a fake hundred — with the ‘for motion picture purposes only.’ He’s been trespassed from the business, issued a protection order; it’s an extended protection order from his mom…it’ll have to be served to him. If he violates that, goes back to mom’s house, and he will be arrested.”

  • Richland County, S.C. — Captain Brown backs up Master Deputy Braylyn Salmond in connection with an alleged non-cooperative driver who entered a convenience store.
  • Triple Play #3 — A pursuit in Fort Smith, Ark. that culminates in a K9-assisted arrest. Abrams previews the segment by mentioning that “a driver took off from a traffic stop which, in hind-sight, was probably a bad idea.”
https://twitter.com/addy_pez/status/1890957466780770403

Abrams: “And he still had that cigarette. Did you see that?” Guest #OPL analyst Officer Linsay Zarick: “You’ll notice with a lot of suspects, they have to get their last smoke in before they know they’re going to jail.” Abrams: “He had it at the beginning of the stop, he has it through the entire incident, through the two PITs, and he’s still got it at the end.” Captain Flowers: “Like a security blanket.”

On Patrol: Live Hour 2

  • Monroe, La. — Amidst a rainy night, Corporal Wilson makes contact with a man walking in the middle of the road. His girlfriend apparently abandoned him during after an argument at a bar during a celebration of the local version of the Mardi Gras. “I’m just trying to get home.” The subject denies Corporal Wilson’s observation that he may have urinated on himself. Officer Serenity Smith gives the man a ride home.

Listen to Corporal Wilson’s summary followed by some studio panel banter:

https://twitter.com/Hec718/status/1891207193090765220
  • Daytona Beach, Fla. — Officer Chance Palm and other units investigate a shooting and search a pickup truck that might be involved. Officer Palm: “So basically, we responded out to a shooting; looks like there’s a little bit of a time lapse over here… still trying to figure out — sounds like there’s two vehicles involved. This would be one of them; the description was given out, a…pickup truck with a broken windshield. This one actually has bullet holes in it as well. The time lapse comes from somehow they ended up here, which is a different city not too far from ours, but still, it means that there’s probably a 15-20 minute time lapse [unintelligible] the call. So right now, they’re working on trying to establish the actual scene…and then we’re here with these officers here assisting with the vehicle here that’s been shot. We’re just waiting on our detectives right now, and then sounds like they’re still trying to fumble through exactly what exactly happened. I guess security heard it or witnessed it and told them to leave. We’re not quite sure why we didn’t get a call, so there’s a lot more questions than answers right now…” Abrams: “That’s definitely a shooting. Now they’ve just got to figure out the circumstances.”
  • Hazen, Ark. — Chief Bradley Taylor and other units conduct a traffic stop on a honest, jovial motorist. “I’m on TV, too?!” Suspended license; the motorist allegedly admits to smoking a blunt. He also may have warrants. Sergeant Clayton Dillion: “You’re handling it like a man; that’s all we ask.” A state trooper arrives to conduct field sobriety testing. Car towed.

Abrams: “I guess they would have figured this out anyway, right? I was gonna give him credit for being honest, but it’s not like they wouldn’t have been able to sort this out.” Captain Flowers: “They knew this guy. This is refreshing. This is the opposite of the ‘John Doe’ in Clayton. This guy is like, ‘I’m suspended, I have warrants, but he knows and respects the officers.” Officer Zarick: “It’s human-to-human interaction there instead of cop-to-citizen interaction.” Abrams: “So not the typical situation where someone says ‘I have no drugs in the car,’ and you find them. Here.. ‘I did have drugs in the car, and they didn’t find them”…if there is any way to cut this guy a break, I’m guessing that is exactly…” Wilson: “Along those lines.” Abrams: “Exactly.”

  • Las Vegas, Nev. (pre-recorded segment) — Officer Christian Petruic and other cops initiate a traffic stop on an alleged stole U-Haul van. No license. Las Vegas officers arrest the man pursuant to a fully extraditable warrant from Arkansas. The vehicle investigation is pending.
https://twitter.com/EricCuellar16/status/1890966805004353947

  • Richland County, S.C. — Captain Brown makes a traffic stop for alleged speeding. “You’re driving all over the place; I though you [were] drunk, man.” The driver does not have his license on his person. Captain Brown notices the passenger reaching for something and draws his firearm. It turns out that the man was allegedly reaching for a blunt. Car search. Captain Brown, of course, smelled weed. On Patrol: Live caption: “Drugs found.” Guns also allegedly found. Both males are arrested. Captain Brown: “I said it smelled green in here, and I was not wrong. We got PWID on both of them.” Abrams: “What started as ‘are they or aren’t they gonna take them downtown’ became a pretty clear answer.”
