This Weekend’s On Patrol: Live Highlights, Commentary, and Social Media Activity
A recap of the February 8, 2025, On Patrol: Live episode (#OPL 03-54), anchored in the NYC studio by attorney and host/executive producer Dan Abrams along with co-host Curtis Wilson and analyst Tom Rizzo, follows.

On Patrol: Live tonight: In terms of social media reaction, the Daytona Beach individual with a novel method of concealing contraband is probably the most notable. The shocking Michigan home-invasion footage also prompted a compelling response online.
Parenthetically, common sense suggests that this episode of On Patrol: Live must constitute a record-setter for the duration of the producers’ bleeping out profanity, and it all started with the Richland County incident that opened the show. See below.
According to Dan Abrams, as of Saturday evening, the new On Patrol: Live merchandise store on Amazon has sold approximately 15,000 items.

- Richland County, S.C. — Deputy Toddson Catoe, Corporal Tim Riley, and other cops converge on an apartment unit in a search for two alleged shoplifting suspects. When no one answer the door, one of the other deputies kicks it in. They detain a male and an argumentative female, the latter whom is heavily bleeped.

Corporal Riley recap: “We had an arrest warrant for him already in hand for an incident that happened a couple days ago. She was just caught within an hour shoplifting again on camera. We’re familiar enough with her that we know her by sight. We can identify her immediately. So while we’re there, we hear him upstairs. We have arrest warrant in hand. We can make entry. They made us force entry. While we’re in the apartment, we find her. She’s going for a freshly committed crime, and he’s going for a warrant.”

- Knox County, Tenn. — Responding to a BOLO, Officers Cooper Bagwell and Joshua Bowers search for a vehicle that fled from a traffic stop originally from a nearby county. The subject might be armed and have warrants. Other pursuing officers lose sight of the car, but Knox cops continue to patrol the general area for it.
- Daytona Beach, Fla. — Sergeant Marcus Booth, K9 Detective Roger Lawson, and other officers investigate an alleged assault near a college. A mother and daughter are detained at the scene. A gun is allegedly found the back of a vehicle. Sergeant Booth provides several updates during the investigation, starting with this one. “So as we’re coming up to the area, we’re flagged down by security saying some type of disturbance took place. They point out this vehicle, so we make contact with the driver. Another female just showed up screaming that they took her phone. The driver ends up with this phone somehow or another. So we’re gonna try to sort this mess out and get it all figured out.”

Sergeant Booth update: “So once again, this whole thing is stemming from an incident we had this morning at about three o’clock this morning where I actually saw her last night. We were gonna take her to jail last night but there was no victim from the fight last night involving this young lady. Now here we go again; it’s it’s continuing on. It’s stemming. So she’s gonna be going, the mom’s gonna be going, and we’re gonna get her on a victim statement.” On Patrol: Live host Dan Abrams: “Alright, so that has become a disappointing family outing.”
Sergeant Booth subsequently adds that “Three people are gonna be going to jail tonight for this incident. We’re gonna try to nip this in the bud because, like I said, this stemmed from something that happened early this morning with these students. And now the mom came up here. Her daughter called her, and last night her daughter was the issue. She called her mom. Her mom came up here. And allegedly, she’s checking on her daughter. From three hours away, she came up here to check on her daughter. What she said was this happened at 8.30, and now somehow she’s tied up in it. Our victim is saying her phone is missing. Next thing you know, they start ringing the phone. Asks where it’s at. And our suspect hands it out…said, no, ‘here’s the phone, I thought it was mine.’ So they’re gonna be going to jail tonight. We’re gonna try to wrap this thing up so no one gets hurt.”
Sgt. Booth: “Obviously, this thing just keeps growing and growing. So like I said, there was a shooting out here. One of the rounds in there matches what we found in the park..”
- Hazen, Ark. — Chief Bradley Taylor makes a traffic stop for driving too slowly in the fast lane, but offers to rescind the ticket if the motorist resolves issues apparently related to a suspended license. Listening to the interaction below.

- Las Vegas, Nev. — Officer Austin Shupe initiates a traffic stop at a gas station for an obstructed license plate.
- Knox County, Tenn. — Officer Bowers and colleagues make contact with and detain two or three males and two females at a church parking lot. On Patrol: Live caption: “Loitering with the Lord?” One of the males claims he doesn’t remember his Social Security number: “I don’t know all the numbers.” Officer Bowers: You know how that looks to us. It looks like you’re trying to pull a little sneaky on us.” They also suspect he dropped something on the ground, which he says was just a cigarette. Cops also search a bag and allegedly find drug paraphernalia. Upon allegedly finding, among other items, a scale with residue in the bag, Officer Bowers asks one of the women “are you the only that uses drugs that’s out here? She replies “I don’t even use drugs.” Officer Bowers: “You just weigh them for other people?” Abrams update: “The two men and a woman were arrested; the other guy, the woman, and — of course — the dog were released with no charges.”

- Monroe, La. (pre-recorded segment) — The High Enforcement Apprehension Team (HEAT) squad detain three teens after a pursuit by car and foot for allegedly threatening another youngster possibly with a firearm. Cops allegedly find guns in a trash can.
Listen to Officer Trey Goins summarize what happened in the incident:
Reacting to a second firearm being found deeper in the garbage bin, Officer Serenity Smith asserts “that shows you how dangerous a lot of these kids are, and what they are doing, being able to put these inside their pants; it’s crazy. And to run with it, like, can easily be killed. They’re 13 and 14 years old.”
- Hazen, Ark. — Chief Taylor and Sergeant Clayton Dillion conduct a traffic stop on the highway for expired tags. None of the occupants apparently have a license. The chief speaks with someone on phone and advises that person that the truck will be towed unless someone with a valid license can come to the scene. Abrams: “Car needs a wash, at least…”
- Las Vegas, Nev. — Officers Shupe and Nicholas Null, along with other units, respond to a disturbance at a residence. On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of a person with a gun.” Two men are detained at gunpoint. Cops also make contact with the complainant. On Patrol: Live studio analyst Tom Rizzo comments on the potentially “perilous situation” for responding officers because cops arriving on the scene initially thought that all three allegedly had weapons: “Sure, because now we know there’s multiple people that are potentially armed, whether offender or a victim. So we actually train [for] scenarios like that to make sure everybody gets disarmed, and then peel back the layers as to what may have occurred there for a criminal offense.” In the course of the investigation, it turns out, however, that it is all a misunderstanding, and that the duo, who were unarmed, were heading to a barbecue and went to the wrong house.
Listen to Officer Null’s brief incident summary:

Corporal Riley recap: “I’m about to cut these guys loose. Like I said, stopped him originally for, well, I saw him speeding. Then he’s sitting in a red light, apparently, just decides to blow through it right in front of Deputy Catoe. I guess he wasn’t paying attention because, there, the two friends in the car were sitting there arguing. There’s a bunch of loose marijuana in the car. It’s not worth sitting there and brushing up and trying to manufacture a charge. He had a probable cause to search the car, but there’s nothing else other than a bunch of loose shake on the floorboards and loose bottles in the car. So…go ahead and cut them loose, and get them on their way, and hopefully they can reconcile the differences here.”
Just take me home @RCSD

- Lee County, S.C. — Deputy Mike Knapp initiates a traffic stop for loud music on a car with big tires operated by a driver that he describes as an alleged “known drug dealer.” Abrams: “Nice wheels.” On Patrol: Live caption: “Good rim job.” The driver initially can’t open the glove department to retrieve his registration and insurance information. K9 deployed for a sniff, but no alert. The driver is released with no charges.
- Berkeley County, S.C. — Deputy Bradley Brown assists on the search for a fleeing vehicle followed by a foot bail. Outside a residence, he and other units find the car and make contact with a older female who allegedly was the passenger; she apparently says that the older male on scene was not the driver. A skeptical Abrams quips that “hmm: a tough one to figure out here, right?…described as a Mexican boy who is driving the car. She was the passenger in it. And that person supposedly fled. But who is the other guy?” Corporal BJ Nelson called the scene; K9 Kai alerts on the vehicle. Car search. Deputy Brown: “So right now, we have located a little bit of what appears to be meth, marijuana, a scale, and a meth pipe. So right now, we’ll field test it, and we’ll go from there…there’s a pill bottle with an assortment of pills in here too.”
- Knox County, Tenn. — Officer Bowers and another unit conduct a traffic stop. Invalid license. Three occupants. From outside the car, cops allegedly spot remnants of baggies and a torch. Cops search the trio as they await a K9 to arrive on scene for a sniff. According to Officer Bowers, if no narcotics are found, he will just cite the driver for a revoked license and release all three occupants.
- Daytona Beach, Fla. — Detective Lawson provides backup for Detective Karl Smith on a slow-roller in a traffic stop in a residential neighborhood. For some reason, the driver’s pants appear covered in mud. “Were you sitting in mud?” Abrams: “Mud is therapeutic.” On Patrol: Live co-host Wilson: “He just has it in a wrong place.” Abrams: “Mudbath.” Detective Lawson jokes that “it takes an act of God for Karl to put on gloves, so apparently mud is the threshold.”
Detective Lawson summary: “[We stopped] the gentleman, because he rolled the stop bar. Previously to rolling the stop bar, we observed him pull up to a guy that we — is a known area for buying narcotics. Asked him to search the vehicle, very nice, let us search the vehicle. Asked to search his person, let us search; so far it didn’t come up with anything. We’re gonna check his license and make sure it’s good.”
- Daytona Beach, Fla. — The Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT) detains a disputatious driver. “I didn’t do nothing.” Bleeping. Drugs allegedly found in his belly button and elsewhere on his person. Some of the substances are field tested.

Detective Smith explains that “the traffic stop was because he blacked out. He passed me. I tried to turn around. He blacked out and then whipped into this driveway. And as I’m approaching the car, he started to jump out, then jumped back in the car, started reaching really hard to the right side, exactly where I found this up in his belly.” Detective Lawson adds that ‘At this point, all we’re doing is testing everything. This dude had drugs in every hole of his body so far that we’ve been able to locate. Just trying to be respectful about his drug-hiding schemes.” Abrams: “Well that is the very definition of an inny…I don’t think we’ve ever seen — we’ve seen drugs hidden or found in a lot of different places.” Rizzo: “I’m gonna tell you — narcotics is my forte, no way have I ever seen that, and I think I would have missed it, too. Hats off…” Abrams: “To the officers there, for making sure to do a proper search.” Rizzo: “‘Not my belly button.'” Abrams: “Exactly. It’s ‘not my bell button’ that would be a great defense.”
Detective Lawson recap: “Basically, what happened was Detective Smith saw this vehicle traveling on the roadway here. The gentleman then cut off his lights and pulled into this driveway real quick. Detective Smith hopped out real quick. He was already trying to get out of the car, at which point he began making super-furtive movements to his, I would say, waist area, but we’ll call it the lower half of his stomach area leading into the waist area. Obviously, a common area for guns is right in that area as well. So Detective Smith began to just pat him down, make sure there was no weapons, at which point he felt a bag of narcotics, which was underneath his stomach. They ended up getting him detained, and at that point, the other detectives on scene were able to locate more narcotics on him in his belly button, more was underneath his large area stomach, and he had money in his pocket with what is presumed to be fentanyl. Another fan favorite, the narcuterie board over here from this gentleman. So it seems to become quite the hot commodity in Daytona to have a smorgasbord of narcotics. He’ll be going to jail tonight for all the narcotics, and I’d be willing to bet it’s gonna be trafficking as well. So, good arrest by VCAT, and we own the night.”
“…the other detectives on scene were able to locate more narcotics on him in his belly button,..”

- Monroe, La. — The HEAT squad conducts a traffic stop. Sergeant Scotty Sadler dtains a male who may be a bystander and who allegedly or possibly seemed to be interfering. “Congratulations; welcome to the show.” Abrams: “Remember, there were to guys there, and only one of them got arrested because there was a different way of handling it.” Rizzo: “Lesson learned. Listen the first four times…” Wilson: “Just comply.”
- Knox County, Tenn. (pre-recorded segment) — Officer Bagwell and other units “responded to a report involving some moaning and squirting, but it turned out to be squirting and moaning.” In this incident, Walgreens notified police that a woman accidentally squirted Loctite instead of eye drops into her eyes. Although the subject says she’s okay, paramedics summoned. It turns out that the subject is taken into custody.

Officer Bagwell synopsis: “So she did end up putting super glue in her eyes. She thought it was Visine. I don’t now how she got it mixed up. It clearly says Loctite on the front of it. So she’s getting checked out right now by our ambulance service, but she did end up having a warrant for aggravated burglary, so she’s gonna be going to jail today on that, as long as the medics here say she’s good to go. Her eyes do look bad, but she should be all right.” Abrams: “A costly error, I guess we could call that. She’s okay, I guess.”

Listen to Officer Shupe’s discuss the initial stages of the investigation:
- Lee County, Fla. — Deputy Knapp makes a traffic stop; expired tags. The motorist seems to admit that there are drugs in the car. Car search; crack allegedly found.
Listen to Deputy Knapp discuss his preliminary findings:
- Berkeley County, S.C. — Deputy Brown and other units are on scene at a bar where a patron is allegedly refusing to pay her tab and throwing things at people.
