This Weekend’s On Patrol: Live Highlights, Commentary, and Social Media Activity
On Patrol: Live Season 4, All-New Episode, Tonight
On Patrol: Live is back with fresh episodes tonight as On Patrol: Live returns from a two-week holiday hiatus.
An On Patrol: Live recap, featuring New York City-based studio host/executive producer Dan Abrams’ puns, analysis, and witty/sarcastic banter usually with co-anchor Curtis Wilson (a Richland County, S.C., deputy sheriff) and analyst Tom Rizzo (a captain with Howell Township, N.J., PD) a as they comment on the live police ride-alongs, plus the often-provocative or playful social media reaction to the incidents in the field, follows below.
In yet another absence of On Patrol: Live cast member Curtis Wilson, former co-host Sean “Sticks” Larkin, a retired Tulsa, Okla., PD sergeant, again returns to the studio panel this weekend. Curtis Wilson has taken so much time off this past year, and often contributes minimally to the discussions when present in the studio, that viewers have to reasonably wonder about his status as an On Patrol: Live co-host going forward. It could simply be that he signed a new contract which reduces his appearances by mutual agreement.
Parenthetically, OPL never officially announced that Tom Rizzo permanently replaced Sticks.
The combination of Rizzo and Sticks seems to offer noticeably better on-camera chemistry.

As #OPNation (i.e., the show’s fandom) is well aware, and for those viewers and/or social media users new to the show, On Patrol Live is more or less a reboot or rebrand ofLive PD.

Police pursuits with or without taser deployments formed the central component of this all-new episode of On Patrol: Live on the Reelz channel, which airs on Peacock among other linear and streaming platforms. Plus, “a shoplifting investigation that took a very dangerous turn,” and which made national headlines, was one of the featured Triple Play segments.
In this On Patrol: Live episode guide, see below for details on all 25 law enforcement encounters across 10 On Patrol: Live scheduled police departments on the current roster. And check back for updates.
Programming notes: Fan favorites Hazen, Ark., PD, and Toledo, Ohio, PD, rejoin On Patrol: Live as of this weekend. Although scheduled, Christian County didn’t appear, while Wheeling, W.Va., at least temporarily, is off the rotation. Also, the Bernalillo County, N.M., Sheriff’s Office is considering a return to the show.
BCSO is exploring a possible return to “On Patrol: Live” on REELZ. We paused participation in January 2023 as Sheriff Allen took office to focus on staffing, training, and morale. With progress made, we’re considering whether returning could increase transparency and highlight…
Daytona Beach, Fla. — Sergeant Christopher Maher assists on a search for a fleeing shoplifting suspect. Other units take the suspect, who had fled with a child,, into custody. Candles allegedly stolen. The suspect allegedly also has warrants.
Listen below to Sgt. Maher’s initial summary and then his follow-up recap (“…she has a lot of charges at this point. The shoplifting is probably the least of her worries…):
#OPlive A candle store??? really? Is there like a huge black market on them? 😂
Oh dang that’s a lot of bath and body works candles!! Instead of stealing girl should have just hit up the candle day sale in December and the semi annual sale going on right now candles are like $7 right now! #OPLive
Toledo, Ohio — Officers Kaleb Tolbert and John Sawicki respond to an assault at a gas station/convenience store and make contact with the victim and store employees. Paramedics summoned for the victim who was punched in the nose by an apparently unknown assailant who is no longer on scene. Report to be written.
Knox County, Tenn. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Park after dark.” Officer Nathan Pandolfi initiates a friendly traffic stop on a truck in a closed park. The occupants were just hanging out at the location. The occupants are likely released after a quick check of their IDs.
Clayton County, Ga. — Lieutenant Jonathan Carey and other officers make contact with a man sitting on the curb who was possibly hit by a car. Cops give the man, who may not have been hit after all and might be drunk, a ride home. Officer on scene: “…drink at the crib. You come outside, and you start drinking. That’s when people start having issues…”
#OPlive "I just wanna go home" off the Bingo cards! 😂
Clayton County, Ga. (pre-recorded segment) — Watch the video clip below “when things sort of took kind of a ‘shocking’ turn” as Lieutenant Christian Stearley and Deputy Nate Proctor end up chasing and then tasing a man who fled from them at a convenience store. Lt. Stearley: “Your ass almost got shot.” Drug paraphernalia and a gun allegedly found.
A routine call to a convenience store in Clayton County quickly becomes more serious than it first seems when a suspect flees—and officers discover a concealed gun. #OPLive#OPNationpic.twitter.com/bqgr5Twxqq
Listen below as the studio panel discuss this incident:
Knox County, Tenn. — On Patrol: Live captions: “Report of shots fired,” “Domestic incident involving gun.” Officer Pandolfi and several other cops converge on a location and initially make contact with a female who provides a lot of detail about what allegedly might have happened in the house and the various relationships involved. During the investigation, two males are detained at the scene.
Listen below to the studio panel discuss the police response:
Listen below to a partial recap from Officer Pandolfi:
Abrams update: “The guy detained from the car at the start of the scene was released with no charges, but the guy in the home, he was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.”
How many people are in that house? I need some 8×10’s and a paragraph in the back of each one to get this. #OPLive
Richland County, S.C. — On Patrol: Live caption: “In pursuit.” K9 Specialist John O’Shaughnessy executes a PIT maneuver on a fleeing vehicle. Deputies detain the driver at gunpoint. On Patrol: Live captions: “Felony stop,” “Suspect in custody.” Car search. Abrams: “So it is tough to explain exactly why he ran because they found literally nothing in the car. He had a valid driver’s license…”
Specialist O’Shaughnessy: “Attempted PIT maneuver; not my best work. We can work on that.” Abrams: “Maybe not his best work, in his words, but still got the job done.” Larkin: “Successful.” Abrams: “…we were just saying it looked pretty good, but you were saying maybe he was upset about the way the car landed.” Rizzo: “And maybe he’s a perfectionist…I say two thumbs up…”
Triple Play #1 — A Flagler County, Fla., police pursuit allegedly involving a kidnapping. Abrams: “That is one of the most intense, frightening scenes that we’ve seen when you know the entirety of the circumstances.”
Clayton County, Ga. — Along with other cops, Lt. Carey tracks a vehicle that allegedly fled from police a few days ago. Stop sticks deployed. PIT maneuver at an apartment complex. The driver is tased and detained.
Lieutenant Joseph Toombs recap: “…pretty much, they knew that the guy was gonna try to flee. So ahead of time, I got into the neighborhood. So Lieutenant Carey lit him up over here; he came around a big circle. I was already waiting for him with the spikes. So I was telling him, ‘back off, back off, back off.’ He backed off the spikes. He came back around this way, and then from there, Blackhawk [unit] was able to take him into custody, man. So I think it was a good effort with all of us collectively doing it. Carey got a good PIT on him, even though…it was a low-speed pursuit. Still a good PIT. He’s running for what?…he’s a bologna sandwich…award recipient. So we got several bologna sandwiches for him…so we’re gonna show him that we make dreams come true in Clayton County.” Abrams: “Kidnapping and home invasions, heard him refer to bologna sandwiches, the kind of food you get behind bars.”
I love Lt. Toombs! 😂 "He's a bologna sandwich award recipient. So we've got several bologna sandwiches for him. We're gonna show him that we make dreams come true in Clayton County." Great job taking down that scum and putting that pos where he belongs. #OPLive#OPNationpic.twitter.com/e3PMoU46LJ
#FirstShift -update- Clayton County – The guy who fled from police & was tased was wanted for kidnapping & burglary. He had a kid in the car when he ran from the police. What an asshole#OPLive#OPNation#OPLiveNation
Daytona Beach, Fla. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Investigating hit and run.” Sgt. Maher responds to an accident scene; two cars appear to be hit. He subsequently looks for another vehicle that allegedly left the scene. At a nearby apartment complex, Sgt. Maher detains two individuals near a damaged truck in the course of the investigation. Potential language barrier.
Baton Rouge, La. — Officer Caruntal Harrell searches a car at a traffic stop. Drug paraphernalia allegedly found. The driver is also directed to stomp out some roaches. The driver is subsequently released.
Richland County, S.C. — K9 Specialist O’Shaughnessy and K9 Bobi detain a fleeing man in the woods in connection with an alleged stolen phone investigation.
Triple Play #2 — A Canton, Ohio, shoplifting incident that escalated into a potential shooting. (Note: OPL does not make the video embeddable, but video footage is contained in the your[NEWS] article linked immediately below.)
#OPLive I paused the show for a bit and came back to it this is the most intense triple play I've ever seen holy moly that was horrible pic.twitter.com/J8yxNlAsjo
Lee County, Fla. — Deputy Mike Knapp conducts a friendly traffic stop possibly involving the odor of weed. Two occupants, one of whom is a rapper. “Motion picture money” found in a combination safe in the car. “Why put it in a safe if it’s not real?” The driver is subsequently released with a warning. Deputy Knapp is then dispatched to a shots-fired call (although On Patrol: Live provides no follow-up coverage).
Baton Rouge, La. — Officer Harrell and other units respond to a disturbance at an apartment complex possibly involving a gunshot. An irate man is detained at the location; heavy bleeping. Officer Harrel, however, indicates that there seems to be a lack of evidence that a shot was actually fired. The man is released after an investigation on scene.
Daytona Beach, Fla. — On a wellness check, Officer Foreman makes contact with a woman who was sleeping on a driveway. “…this is a safety issue for you…I don’t want you to get hit by a car…you cannot lay right here in the middle of the road…you’re gonna get Baker Acted because you are laying in the middle of the road. You don’t know where you’re at.” Abrams: “This could take a while…”
What made that woman think that was a good place to sleep? 🤦🏼♀️ Drugs, or alcohol is the question. I'm leaning towards drugs. #OPLive#OPNationpic.twitter.com/q7lx2m6bMl
Listen below to Lt. Yacobozzi discuss this stop followed by some studio panel banter about the pill:
Daytona Beach, Fla. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Assisting on a felony stop.” Sgt. Maher provides backup on scene.
Knox County, Tenn. (pre-recorded segment) — Abrams prologue: “Recently, officers pulled over a driver — sorry, correction, a traveler — who tried the, how do I say this, to bite off more than he could chew.” Officers Jordan Tolliver and Joshua Bowers make a traffic stop for an alleged suspended tag. Suspended license; no insurance. The driver describes himself as a state national which is similar to a sovereign citizen. As Abrams alluded to, false teeth spotted in car. Cops arrest the driver; the car is towed.
Officers in Knox County get quite the surprise during a bizarre traffic stop when the driving record comes back totally fubarus. #OPLive#OPNationpic.twitter.com/1R1fxgp74r
#OPLive Yes, driving is a privilege, not a right — and courts, lawmakers, and pretty much every DMV in the United States (and most countries) have been very clear about this for decades. GROK sez
Toledo, Ohio — On Patrol: Live caption: “Searching for sparking taco truck.” Officers Tolbert and Sawicki make a traffic stop on the subject vehicle that is supposedly dragging something behind it that is causing sparks.
Baton Rouge, La. — Police, including Officer Ben D’Armond, conduct a foot search in a parking lot for a fleeing suspect. Officer Devon Johnson spots a man allegedly hiding under a car. Taser apparently deployed. On Patrol: Live caption: “Suspect in custody.” Another man is also detained on scene.
