This Weekend’s On Patrol: Live Highlights, Commentary, and Social Media Activity
An On Patrol: Live recap including NYC studio host/executive producer Dan Abrams’ puns, analysis, and banter with co-anchor Curtis Wilson (a Richland County, S.C., deputy sheriff), and analyst Captain Tom Rizzo (Howell Township, N.J., PD), along with the often-provocative or playful social media reaction, follows.

On Patrol: Live on Reelz tonight: For #OPNation, Clayton County was prominent in this episode for the warrant execution that opened the show as well as for an officer-involved shooting in a pre-recorded segment. In addition to the other intriguing police incidents detailed below, host Dan Abrams’ #StubbleTrouble also attracted a lot of attention from #OPL fans.
Some wee woos, heavy artillery, 2 SWAT engagements, a guy with a crazy B1tch and a chicken, someone shot himself, well you know just a regular Friday night! #OPL #OPLNation #OnPatrolLive #OnPatrolNation #OPLive #OPNation #Reelz

Agency update: The Humboldt County, Calif., Sheriff’s Office has exited On Patrol: Live although it may return in the fall, the Lost Post Outpost reported. According to Humboldt Sheriff Wlliam Honsal, “I feel like it was, overall, a great experience.” He left open the possibility of returning to the show “at the end of 2025” when there is more activity going on the county, such as the “active marijuana season.” Also, some online influencers claim that “big news” is coming from On Patrol: Live. Could it be following U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on raids, expanded broadcast or streaming content, or something else?

- Clayton County, Ga. — Deputy Malik Clark is among a large group of cops, including SWAT, who serve a search warrant on a convenience store that appears to be allegedly running gambling operation. Several men detained on scene. The location is cleared. [The incident is somewhat reminiscent of a raid conducted by Pomona, Calif., PD on Live PD back on February 21, 2020.] Clayton cops serve a second warrant at a residence. Abrams: “So it seems that this was a gambling operation there behind that Lucky Food Mart…unlucky Food Mart today for the people there…”

In the studio, analyst Captain Tom Rizzo answers Abrams’ question about on why cops brought “so much firepower” to the scene to execute the warrant: “So every warrant’s going to be different, so they’ll base it on the intel leading up to it: criminal histories, potential threats of violence. It’s almost like — it looks like — a matrix, and there’s a potential score. And when that score is reached, it almost takes the discretion out. You would incorporate all these other tools and tactics for safety of all people on scene.” On Patrol: Live co-host Deputy Curtis Wilson: “…everyone in that area is gonna be contained for now until they can slow down and see who actually is involved and who wasn’t. So everybody gets locked up.” Abrams later mentions that “as Captain Tom Rizzo was pointing out before, the determination of how much force, how many officers, et cetera, often determined by factors such as the background, who may be involved, previous criminal records, et cetera.”

- Monroe La. — The High Enforcement Apprehension Team (HEAT), including Officers Serenity Smith, Trey Goins, and Jonathon Daniel, investigate a shooting at a restaurant. The victim, a car passenger, apparently had already been transported to the hospital when cops arrived. Cops make contact with a female, age 18, at the scene who apparently was the driver. Car search; blood drops noted on the front passenger seat and on the ground. Cops determine that the wound was allegedly self inflicted.

Abrams: “We still don’t know exactly what happened, but again, it’s yet another example where you get the call, right?, two people shot, and now as the police officers are able to piece it together, you realize ‘well, it’s not exactly what we thought when we arrived on the scene.’ And it happens all the time.” Wilson: “And it does. You get a call that the information that comes in with multiple witnesses like this, you’re gonna get a little bit of the store here, a little bit of the story there, but you got to piece it all together once you’re there.” Rizzo: “And the weapon is still on scene, right? So an innocent bystander — ‘oh, here it is.’ Now they’re holding up a firearm and not understanding why we would then want to control that scenario with applicable use of force, or taking people into custody, and all that, because we don’t know.”

Officer Daniel recap: “We got an initial call that was, that I heard patrol get– said somebody showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound…shot himself. Immediately after that, they said our ambulance provider got a call, said that there was a second victim over here. So we were right down the road. We went ahead and came down here and come to find out she was just having a panic attack. She was the driver. The person that shot himself, he was the passenger, and apparently was messing with a gun, but didn’t have it holstered properly or anything like that. And it went off, shot him in what looks like the left leg, and it looks like that bullet may have bounced around in the car somewhere. Found the bullet, found the case, and found the gun. We’re gonna take all that for safekeeping for right now. And when they get done with their investigation on the patrol side, if he’s able to get it back, he can always go to the PD and get it back. For right now, we’re done on our part. Sounds like he’s gonna be okay from what we’ve heard so far.” Abrams: “Now that makes sense. Now we understand what happened.”
Monroe got some fast ambulances… scooped up the victim and left before the police even arrived! #OPLive

- Clayton County, Ga. (pre-recorded segment) — In an intense incident, Lieutenant Brandon Warren and other cops pursue a fleeing car in a residential neighborhood after an alleged shooting. The driver foot bails from the vehicle. Foot pursuit; K9 deployed. Police set up a perimeter around a house; SWAT deployed. An officer is shot and wounded at the scene as is the subject, age 21, when deputies returned fire. Officer Kenyon Ford has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home and he and his fiancée “are thankful for all the support they’ve been getting from the community.” The suspect is still hospitalized

Listen below to Lieutenant Warren and Captain Jason Barrett recap the incident and detail the preliminary or potential charges for the suspect after which Abrams back in the studio mentions “that’s one of the first times we’ve seen on this show that’s actually been there when there’s been an officer-involved shooting.” Rizzo adds that when a fellow officer is shot, “it’s very difficult to stay on task…” During the same commentary, Wilson notes that when law enforcement agencies come together following an officer-involved shooting, they will “pool those resources together, the manpower, the perimeter, the drones, the choppers, everything that’s available, they’re all gonna use it for a common goal to catch the suspect.”
- Knox County, Tenn. — Officer Cooper Bagwell initiates a traffic stop for mismatched plates.
- Las Vegas, Nev. — Officers Cameron Jenkins and Cristian Petruic investigate an alleged domestic incident and makes contact with three parties who might be allegedly involved. Paramedics summoned for a man sitting outside who appears to have lacerations. “They hit me; they beat me…I feel abused…” Abrams notes that the subject on the sidewalk also refers to a Suzanne Vega song and adds that “the officer there is trying to just elicit the information to figure out is there a crime. Who may have committed it…it’s just not been that easy…they’re still trying to figure out exactly what happened there, and we’ll see. They’re getting both sides of the story.” A female in the apartment unit initially is allegedly unwilling to identify herself: “I’m trying to understand what my rights are as an American citizen.” After an investigation, Abrams explains that “the son was arrested for domestic battery. The mother was released with no charges.”

Abrams introduces the segment by joking that Deputy Brown “investigated a case — well, actually it was two cases.” Deputy Brown recap: “The gentleman right there stole from the CVS, actually right across the street through the little patch of woods. He’s done it before, so he’s well known to several deputies. We were able to locate him inside and located the two packs of Twisted Teas. He also has a warrant with a neighboring department, so he’s gonna be book on our theft of shoplifting, and then he’ll be transported to another agency on his warrant.” Abrams: “Does it make me a bad person that I was thinking if you’re going to steal and so obviously get caught, at least maybe go for the good stuff?”

Officer Bagwell asserts that “We can’t find [the male subject]. We don’t know where he went, but it does look like there was some sort of domestic that did occur here.” Abrams adds that “so now you can see that they are concerned that there may have been domestic violence involved. They want to assess; they want to find the boyfriend. So we’ll see what happens there.” The officer subsequently adds that “so the female that was inside when we got here and had knocked on the door, she was saying that [the subject] went back into the back of the trailer and then came back out, shut the lights off, and said ‘don’t tell the cops I’m here.’ We’ve cleared the house twice, and a lot of the structures that are here on the property. We don’t see him anywhere, but there is fresh blood that’s going outside the back door. So I’m assuming he’s around here somewhere, hunkered down. He’s not from the area, so I’m assuming he’s hunkered down somewhere and just waiting for us to leave. We’re trying to see if we have a drone that we can get up in the area or possibly a helicopter. But we are looking at possible ag assault charges. It doesn’t look like the domestic did occur here. When the female that was bleeding from the head had left, she had blood on her head prior to leaving here. And the male…had blood on his knuckles. So compiling all of the info that we got, it does seem like there was a domestic that occurred here.”

- Daytona Beach, Fla. — Sergeant Booth and other officers make contact with the the 17-year-old occupants of an apparent “hot-boxing” vehicle. On Patrol: Live caption: “Hot box.” Abrams: “Looks like a potentially ‘steamy’ situation.” Sergeant Booth: “…seems there’s a lot of smoke coming out of here. It seems almost like a car’s on fire…this is almost like a movie with all the smoke coming out of this thing…” Car search. Sergeant Booth tells the teens he’s calling their parents to come to the scene to get them because “especially after you guys ingested a little bit of marijuana, I don’t want you guys driving…that’s as bad as it’s gonna get…”
— Krissycat83 (@krissycat83) March 8, 2025
That's not a suspicious sight at all …. If you're going to hotbox your car, I recommend you not do it in public. 🤦🏼♀️ Especially in a state where devil lettuce is not legal. 🤨 Kids these days. #OPLive #OPNation #Reelz pic.twitter.com/ypkMcIIr3W

I don’t know what’s worse, to be caught hot boxing or to have the college admissions officers watching OP Live.
- Clayton County, Ga. — Lieutenant Jonathan Carey and numerous other officers converge on a home for a man with 13 arrest warrants. The lieutenant mentions that the subject had fled from officers on several previous occasions and go away. Cops enter the home, but the subject is not there. “We’ll keep looking for him.”

- Las Vegas, Nev. — Officer Petruic responds to a truck fire that allegedly might or might not be related to a stabbing incident a few days previous. Officer Petruic makes contact with the driver on scene and gathers information from him about the incident. “You’re a very ‘popular’ guy. Why is that?”
What I thought we were going to get from Vegas: Concubines, and stumbling drunks.
— Keri (@k_guarez) March 8, 2025
What we got: Man stabbed in the eye by his gf, and his truck set on fire. 😳
Vegas is living up to its reputation. #OPLive #OPNation #Reelz pic.twitter.com/brpEUeIwby
Abrams: “What a bizarre situation in Las Vegas. A guy who was stabbed earlier… and now his truck has been set on fire. And they’re trying to figure out exactly what’s going on.”
This guy pissed someone off. Now would be a great time to show a Car Shield commercial LOL #Oplive #OPLive #OPNation #OPLiveNation @ReelzChannel @OfficialOPLive

Officer Petruic recap: “We’ve gotten to this gentleman a few times throughout the week already. As you can see, he’s already been stabbed in the eye. He broke up with his ex-girlfriend. She seems to be really mad about that, so he keeps kind of getting messed with. He got stabbed in his eye a few days ago. Now his property is on fire. Unable to prove if someone actually lit it on fire or he accidentally left it on — like that so it caught on fire. So I just want to see if I can find a guy by the name of Three. He’s saying there’s a guy named Three who’s been threatening him.” Abrams: “…put into the system, looking for Three?” Wilson: “Could be that nickname that the guy goes by…” Abrams: “Actually, it could be that…good point.”

- Richland County, S.C. — Specialist O’Shaughnessy conducts a traffic stop on a van apparently for an obstructed tag. No license. On Patrol: Live caption: “Open container found.” Three occupants detained. One of the occupants apparently complains that the deputy approached them on the passenger side. Car search. O’Shaughnessy: “Need gloves; this car’s nasty.”
“Does anyone have a driver’s license?” “Does anyone have an ID? Anything with your name on it?”

— D Baran (@DanBaranArt) March 8, 2025
Specialist O’Shaughnessy explains that “that snowballed. Apparently it’s their ‘right’ that I have to go to the driver’s side. This is exactly why I don’t go to the driver’s side. Catch them off guard; he was hiding an open container. Passenger side inside, open the door, falls out. Apparently that’s an ashtray, a liquid ashtray. They’re all pretty drunk, too.” Rizzo: “What you see here is a passenger, yes, just by themselves being a passenger, but if you commit a violation — just because you’re not in the driver’s seat, now you’re subject to the same rules. And passengers are seized on a car stop — they are not free to leave just as the same as the driver.”
“Apparently it’s their ‘right’ that I have to go to the driver’s side..”

Abrams: “We have to do this too many times, but real quick, remind us when they have to have their rights read.” Rizzo: “C plus I: Custody plus interrogation. So he didn’t ask him anything. He doesn’t have to read him his rights just because he’s been placed into custody. And again, any type of question that’s gonna elicit an incriminating response: ‘What’s your name. Where you coming [from]: Those aren’t incriminating questions.” Abrams update: “The driver of that vehicle was arrested for driving under suspension and open container. The passengers, though, were all released with no charges.”
- Missing update and revisted Missing segment:

- Monroe, La. (pre-recorded segment) — The Heat squad conducts a traffic stop for tinted windows, and as Abrams introduces the segment, “both the driver and passenger denied being in possession of drugs, and then things got a bit ‘testy’.” Car allegedly smells of weed. Car search. Cops arrest the driver and passenger after crack is allegedly found.

- Berkeley County, S.C. — The Carr corporals conduct a traffic stop. Consensual car search. A crack pipe is allegedly found. The driver is asked to stomp out the pipe. Abrams quips that “a crack pipe, and maybe a crack cleaner.” As the episode concludes, it appears that the occupants are likely to be let go with no charges. Listen below:
