On Patrol: Live Recap for October 4, 2025 (#OPL Episode 04-22)

  • Lee County, Fla. — Deputy Ty James is among the cops responding to an alleged scuffle on the beach in Fort Myers. A male is in cuffs on the ground. Abrams: “Here’s what we know. Apparently this guy used to work at this bar. He went there; he got in sort sort of scuffle with security outside of the bar. Police arrive. He then gets into a scuffle with a police officer, and now he is on his back and cuffed.” Tom Rizzo subsequently explains that the initial skirmish was with other employees: “The security guards coming afterwards.” On Patrol: Live caption: “Public Intoxication.” Bleeping. Paramedics on scene. On Patrol: Live airs security footage of restaurant/bar staff purportedly grappling with the individual.

Deputy Derrick Boysen: “It sounds like he’s a former employee who came back to enjoy himself inside the bar, had a little too much to drink. He decided to confront some of his former coworkers, and security arrived, tried to take him down, and they called us…he struggled with me and security guards…”

Listen below to the studio panel discussing this incident after seeing the surveillance footage (Abrams: “…he didn’t understand why he was being arrested, but it’s the beauty of having videos these day…tells a story of what happened…”:

  • Baton Rouge, La.On Patrol: Live caption: “Responding to multi-vehicle accident.” Officers Joshua Dennis and Anthony Nguyen among the cops responding along with the fire department. One of the involved drivers already walked away from the scene. One vehicle has significant front-end damage. No one on scene was injured. Officer Nguyen translates for another driver. Abrams: “So someone may have fled here. Trying to figure out exactly what happened, where everyone is. Make sure everyone’s okay.”
  • Lee County, Fla. — Deputy Damian Lehmann and other units respond to an alleged domestic disturbance at a trailer home. After they knock on the window and door several times, a male comes out and is detained. He allegedly also has a warrant for theft. On Patrol: Live caption: “Suspect in custody.”
  • Knox County, Tenn. — Officer Jordan Duncan responds to a two-vehicle accident on the highway. On Patrol: Live caption: “Motorcycle vs. Minivan.” Paramedics on scene.
  • Wheeling, W.Va. — Officers Zach Stoneking and Zachary Herron on a traffic stop. Under questioning, a female occupant seems to indicate that there is no contraband in the car. K9 deployed; K9 alert. Car search. Drugs allegedly found. “It looks like she’s a one-stop shot. Get your meth, crack, and your fentanyl.” Abrams: “So that’s quite a find there.”
  • Christian County, Mo. — Deputy Trevor Guinn backs up Sheriff Brad Cole on a traffic stop on a truck for allegedly weaving. The cooperative motorist delivers for Domino’s and, during the course of a longer conversation, tells the cops that “every so often, I go out, and I do bodyguard work for people who go to clubs and stuff. People who want low-grade bodyguard work.” Sheriff Cole: “How do you do bodyguard work when you’re on probation for unlawful use of a weapon?” Driver: “That’s simple…you don’t carry any guns on you…” On Patrol: Live caption: “Bodyguard and pizza delivery driver.” Vehicle search. The driver is subsequently released with a warning.

Abrams: “Thirty minute guarantee’s gonna be a problem.”

Among the various items in the truck include an old-timey device which prompts Deputy Guinn to jovially quip that “this is definitely the radios used to use when sheriff started his law enforcement career.” Sheriff Cole: “We didn’t have radios back then. Used call boxes to call in.” With reference to all the stuff in the truck, Abrams quips that “You ever see the show Let’s Make a Deal, where you got to like say, ‘hey, do you have a,’ and you got to have like a toothbrush or whatever is in the audience? This car — this guy could be a winner. All of the random items that he has in this vehicle…but so far, nothing illegal.”

Sheriff Cole to the driver: “You need to get whatever is wrong with your truck fixed so you can keep it on your side of the road…I’m sure Domino’s wouldn’t be too happy if you crashed delivering pizza. And I know one thing: You delivering pizza to my house. I wouldn’t be happy if you didn’t make it, because I want my pizza…” The sheriff than summarizes the stop: “So we got behind him. He’s all over the road, weaving into the other lane. Stopped him. Figured out that he’s on probation for unlawful use of a weapon. He gave us consent to search the vehicle. We found a couple of things in there that’s probably not a great idea for him to be in possession of, but other than that, nothing illegal, so he’s gonna be on his way tonight.”

  • Clayton County, Ga. — Lieutenant Jonathan Carey responds to a vehicle fire. The fire department is also on scene.

On Patrol: Live Hour 2

  • Knox County, Tenn. — Officer Brett Cox initiates a traffic stop. Car search. A needle is allegedly found. Abrams: “The guy is literally traveling with Narcan.”
  • BOLO segment — San Ramon, Calif., jewel thieves.
  • Clayton County, Ga. — Lt. Jonathan Carey makes a traffic stop on a car allegedly traveling 113-mph on the highway. The motorist is arrested on several charges. Lt Carey: “So he’s going to jail for speeding — going 113 in a 65, reckless driving, erratic lane change, and following to close. He’ll see a judge in the morning about it.” Abrams: “We have seen Lieutenant Carey pull over a lot of people speeding very, very fast. This is a rare one where he’s taken him to jail, so it shows you that the reckless driving was also a piece of this. It wasn’t just the speed.”
  • Richland County, S.C. — Upon arriving on scene, Sergeant Bryce Hughes assists other cops including Captain Danny Brown in a foot pursuit of a fleeing suspect at an apartment complex. Bleeping. On Patrol: Live caption: “Suspect in custody.” Sgt. Hughes to suspect: “You think it’s gonna help your case for you to be running?” An older man on scene, who is allegedly the suspect’s father, is also detained, but is subsequently released. Deputies search the ground for any contraband that might have been tossed during the chase.

Sgt. Hughes: “Danny noticed this individual in a narcotics area going up to numerous vehicles. Looked like he’s doing hand-to-hand transactions. Danny went to get out with him…he ran on foot, so luckily I was right around the corner, so I was able to see him actually running from him out of the store…”

Listen below to Captain Brown’s recap of this incident:

Listen below to some studio panel commentary about this incident after which Captain Brown on scene mentions the potential charges:

On Patrol: Live caption: “Fried chicken & boxing gear.” Officer Herron: “That is quite the assortment of stuff.” Abrams: “Get a little workout.” Rizzo: “Work out, and then you get the chicken for the protein.” Johnson: “You get tired, you got to eat to recover..”

He kind of lost me in the beginning, but he’s on his way, it looks like. Hopefully, he doesn’t come back, because he’s formally trespassed now per the manager. And not at all surprised or curious why. So hopefully, [he] has a better night, and I’m hoping he makes his way to New Jersey, Naples, or China, any of them, any of the places we talked about.”

  • Baton Rouge, La. — Officer Dennis is among the cops responding to a burglary in progress at a restaurant. The owners purportedly remotely saw what happened on a video stream. One window is busted. Police converge at the location. Officer Dennis explains that “it appears that the suspect who busted this window out gained entry, went into the cash register, took the cash out, and went out the back door. We have video of it. We initially got here, we didn’t know if they were still inside or not. But they had video, they were watching it live, they watched it happen, so we went in a cleared just in case. We’ll go back inside.”

They look really nice, but it’s time to go.”
  • Christian County, Mo. — Sheriff Cole and Deputy Guinn on a motorcycle stop for alleged speeding. According to Abrams, “apparently the driver didn’t have a proper license, so the father in law has now arrived on the scene to take the motorcycle.” Sheriff Cole: “…we’re gonna let him off pretty easy tonight. Real good people, just made a bad decision tonight…”

Listen below as Sheriff Cole also gives a shout-out (“I can’t wait to get my next big bear hug from you”) to his friend Sheriff Johnson who know each other from conference attendance.

  • Wheeling, W.Va. — Officer Herron and a colleague conduct a traffic stop for allegedly swerving. The motorist, who has a suspended license, initially says she only consumed two beers. A PBT device allegedly records a .159. Richland Count and Live PD mentioned. Abrams: “Certainly not the way somebody wants to be seen on the show.”

Search of the interior in progress. Officer Stoneking: “So obviously, we forced entry. Nobody is inside the residence at this time. Don’t know when they left, but we believed that this time there would be people in there. So we’re gonna conduct a search of it, see if there’s anything left behind..so the fist step before we search here, we’re gonna photograph everything. Photograph outside, photograph the door area where the damage occurred. Photograph each room inside the house before we start searching through.”
