The Soros-funded, Obama-connected prosecutor who controversially dropped all felony charges against actor Jussie Smollett has rebuffed calls for her to step down. On Saturday, she (and several supporters) also played the race card against the the Chicago police union that is demanding that Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx resign from office. Thirty suburban Cook County police chiefs have similarly released an open letter that indicated no confidence in her stewardship of the Chicago-land jurisdiction.
The FBI is supposedly investigating the scandal, and hopefully agents will conduct a serious inquiry rather than sweeping it under the rug. There have also been calls for a special prosecutor to review what happened in the abrupt dismissal of the indictment against the previously obscure actor.
According to the New York Post, the Smollett case is just one of a long list of gripes by local cops against the first-term progressive prosecutor. “The [Fraternal Order of Police] claims there is ‘one example after another of her giving breaks to criminals and tossing or diminishing charges against offenders when the victims are Chicago Police Officers.'”
Chicago is also suing Smollet for ignoring the $130,000 bill for overtime it sent him for the police investigation into what virtually everyone has concluded was a hate crime hoax. Obviously the 130 grand is just a drop in the bucket of what the massive police probe cost Chicago, a city engulfed in gang-related, gun violence.
Bipartisan Condemnation
From The Daily Wire:
“Despite Foxx’s claims [about white supremacists], her critics have come from both sides of the political aisle and are not limited to the Fraternal Order of Police or suburban police chiefs. Last week, Retired Illinois Appellate Justice Sheila O’Brien penned an editorial for the Chicago Tribune calling on the courts to appoint a special investigator to delve into Foxx’s handling not only of Smollett’s case, but of several cases which Foxx’s office allowed violent offenders to skate off with lenient sentences.
“Over the weekend, left-leaning Tribune columnist Eric Zorn also called on Foxx to admit her errors, signaling that even reliable Democrats within Chicago may be tiring of Foxx’s excuses. Incoming Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, herself a black woman, echoed outgoing mayor Rahm Emanuel’s criticism of Foxx, and suggested that the city should get to the bottom of the Smollett decision and that Foxx should be willing to answer questions.”
After a brief moment of sanity, Emanuel hopped back aboard the anti-Trump train, unfortunately, in ridiculously trying to blame President Trump for the Smollet hoax. He has also spoke out against the idea of Foxx resigning, although he previously described the dropping of the Smollett charges as a “whitewash of justice” that demanded accountability. Chicago’s police chief Eddie Johnson also expressed outrage over Foxx’s decision.
Democrats have total political control over corrupt, very fake Chicago and Illinois generally.
