Some observers claim that today’s statement by Fla. Gov. Ron DeSantis about the possible indictment on a bogus charge of former President Trump by a radical left, vindictive, and soft-on-actual-crime Democrat prosecutor set the proper tone, while others claim it was insufficiently forceful.

The larger issue is that the MAGA contingent would be happy to vote for either Trump or DeSantis as their 2024 presidential standard-bearer, whichever way the primary season plays out.

No one outside of the partisan political operatives on each team — or the corporate media — wants divisiveness or infighting between the two of them (if DeSantis officially decides to run). It will be very disturbing if the petty and disruptive back and forth continues.

Obviously, there are big egos involved. It’s not the same scenario as 2016, though, with resulted in a stage full of career politicians. President Trump himself can set the example by dialing it back and simply concentrate on running his campaign and let the other candidates or presumed candidates run theirs.
