Fox News legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano went from a pro-Trump libertarian to a vocal Never Trumper who has criticized the president for “immoral” and “condemnable” conduct as portrayed in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report. With the ascendancy of the Murdoch bros, Fox News is moving liberal outside of prime time. Maybe the ex-judge changed his tune for a paycheck; in addition to several anchors on Fox, lots of Trump bashers who regularly appear CNN and MSNBC have done the same. It also wouldn’t be the first time since Donald Trump won the White House that a personal vendetta masquerades as news analysis, if not fake news.

President Trump claims that Napolitano is angry that he didn’t get a Supreme Court appointment or that a friend never received a pardon. Napolitano, a former New Jersey trial court judge, has denied both allegations. Some observers claim that Trump uses Fox News as a hiring hall for his administration.

Flipping the Script

From Big League Politics:

“Once a good friend to Donald Trump, Judge Andrew Napolitano has transformed among his most biting critics since his 2017 suspension. He predictably trashed Attorney General Bill Barr on Fox News after he was grilled [on May 1] by angry Democrats in the Senate Judiciary Committee…Napolitano suggested that Barr’s rationale for not charging Trump with obstruction was flawed, and the fact that Trump never committed any crime was immaterial to the case.. Despite the fact that there is no evidence showing that Trump committed any type of Russian collusion, Napolitano believes Trump should be charged anyway.”

In March 2017, Fox suspended Judge Nap, as he is nicknamed, for claiming that the Obama administration and British intelligence spied on Trump, an allegation which may turn out to be accurate.

Napolitano Does a 180

Writes Russ Vaughn at the American Thinker about the man who he describes as the “mendacious magistrate”:

“I have been mystified by the one-eighty-degree turn of Fox legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano from being an ardent Trump-supporter to a constant critic of the president…if true, Trump’s tweet does certainly provide motive for Judge Nap’s mysterious morphing from a Fox News fan of the president to a continually carping critic, without even a hint of explanation from the network.  This is another example of how all these so-called ‘expert’ observations we’re continually fed by the media are far too dependent on the personal feelings and attitudes of the so-called experts rather than being objective and fact-based.  Moreover, Trump’s tweet shows the entire nation that Napolitano’s goodwill, even his on-air legal opinions, can be bought — not exactly a quality most presidents would look for in a Supreme Court appointee, is it? What is even more mystifying is this: whatever made Napolitano think he, an on-air legal ‘analyst’ for Fox News Network, was of sufficient juristic eminence to be appointed to the highest court in the land?…You can bet the farm that had Trump made the appointment, the media would have immediately and endlessly denounced Judge Nap as judicially unqualified and appointed only due to his on-air support of Trump…And for a top-level legal analyst, Judge Nap has to be politically tone-deaf to not realize what a field day the media would have with a Trump pardon for a friend of two Fox personalities.”
