A year into her job as the host of Megyn Kelly Today, most media outlets have perhaps unfairly stopped triumphantly reporting about the lackluster ratings that Megyn Kelly is apparently still drawing for the 9 a.m. Eastern slot for the NBC NewsToday show franchise.

Kelly’s primary challenge is and continues to be that the ex-corporate lawyer fundamentally lacks a television constituency. Liberals among the audience, on social media, and the majority of  journalists who work as TV critics simply won’t accept her on the NBC daytime platform. More conservative viewers haven’t forgiven her for turning FNC’s Kelly File into an anti-Trump and Never Trump forum.

Whether you like him or not, Donald Trump has exposed many mainstream media pundits as shamelessly opportunistic at best in terms of seeking their next payday.  For instance,  you’ve probably noticed that quite a few high-profile talking heads completely changed their ideology when they switched networks, which sometimes means literally just walking across the street. It’s kind of like the so-called baby-face-to-heel turn in the kayfabe world of professional wrestling.

Megyn Kelly was expected to follow suit as she tried to fit in to the NBC liberal culture in the process of becoming a daytime diva.

When Megyn Kelly Today show debuted, the host insisted that it would be a politics-free zone. She did, however, quickly jump on the #MeToo bandwagon as a way to stabilize her ratings.

Unlike the prevailing media groupthink, she has not jumped on another bandwagon — the one that accepts the allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh at face value, allegations that the Democrats on the Judiciary Committee kept secret for two months until the eve of the vote.

Before Thursday’s hearing where both Christine Blasey Ford and Judge Kavanaugh, Kelly reminded her viewers and a panel that the lawyers representing Ford were Democrat operatives and that some women do lie. She also decried the rush to judgment on both sides.

“If [Kavanaugh has] been wrongly accused of attempted rape, he does not need to shut up; he needs to defend himself and we need to be – at least if you’re a U.S. senator – please give us at least the semblance of fairness, okay? Just at least the appearance of fairness to both sides would be really appreciated.”

Parenthetically, GOP Sen. Jeff Flake’s grandstand play to insist on a 7th FBI background check on Kavanaugh as a condition of advancing the nomination out of committee seems reasonable on its face and may be necessary to obtain a yes floor vote from colleagues Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski. But that gives the Democrats additional time for more treachery, as former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy points out in National Review.

“Judiciary Committee Democrats do not want an FBI investigation of allegations against Judge Kavanaugh because they think it will be especially illuminating or reliable. They want it because it will result in delay, giving them the breathing room necessary to come up with more reasons for delay.”

The aptly named Flake, who is leaving Congress because he couldn’t make it through a Republican primary, is likely looking for a gig on MSNBC or CNN,  and to cash in on other speaking gigs and whatnot in the limousine liberal echo chamber.

What better way to audition for cushy gigs than to sanctimoniously throw a wrench into the proceedings that are already two weeks behind schedule.

Is “Manchurian Candidate” Megyn Kelly on the way out?

A report surfaced in the Daily Mail on Friday that NBC execs would be willing to pay off Megyn Kelly’s three-year, $69 million contact in full if she would just exit 30 Rock sooner rather than later, given that her ratings continue to fall short of the ABC-syndicated chat show Kelly and Ryan or the NBC Today edition that Kelly replaced.

One NBC insider supposedly likened her to a “Manchurian candidate…someone put inside the network to take it down from within.”

The Daily Mail further clams that Kelly has cleverly positioned herself such that it will be difficult for NBC to ousting her without inviting a lawsuit.

“Megyn Kelly has been building a failsafe plan to ensure she can’t be fired from NBC News amid her show’s tanking ratings, executives at NBC News tell DailyMailTV exclusively.

“Megyn began extensively covering the #MeToo movement in a bid to carve out a place for her show, even covering her own colleagues at the network who had been accused or fired over allegations of sexual misconduct, most notably Matt Lauer and Tom Brokaw.

Multiple top executives at NBC tell DailyMailTV they believe she has strategically positioned herself as a champion of #MeToo in case her show is cancelled, paving the way for a potential suit for being fired for speaking out against her employer.

“A high-ranking source at NBC told DailyMailTV: ‘Everyone has had enough and they want Megyn out’…

“Insiders say NBC has already mapped out a scenario for Kelly’s exit where they could actually break even.

“By terminating her, NBC would be obligated to pay out the remainder of her contract. But they would be able to replace a very expensive hour of television with one that gets better ratings and is almost free to produce.”

Megyn Kelly also had a contentious interview with Tom Arnold in which the subject of Kavanaugh came up.

Blue-check Twitter will continue to be unhappy with Megyn Kelly:
