News and commentary: progress in work
Update 1/19/24: It seems that one of the two producers that replaced Cullinane is already gone.
Although it’s somewhat ambiguous as to whether he was fired or quit, Dave Cullinane is leaving The Kirk Minihane Show.
Update: 5/24/21: Minihane cut bait with Steve Robinson effective immediately although the latter will get paid through June 18. Robinson’s attitude was apparently more or less the issue. Robinson, according to Kirk, made $100K as Minihane’s producer, which is an enormous salary for the podcast industry.
Update 7/9/20: Kirk’s eulogy for WEEI:
Kirk Minihane, the host of the Kirk Minihane Show on the Barstool Sports podcast network, is taking a victory lap after the release of the spring ratings book that reflected the listenership, or specifically the lack thereof, for Boston sports radio station WEEI, his former employer.
Update 11/24/20: Blind Mike returns to the podcast to provide an update on how things are going and his plan going forward. Spoiler alert: He’s still fake-laughing at everything that KIrk Minihane says. Note: “The Return” on 11/23 was just a boring segment during which Blind Mike and Minihane talked about the Cheers sitcom.
Gerry Callahan sat down this morning with former radio partner Kirk Minihane on the irreverent Kirk Minihane Show podcast, a daily offering that is part of the Barstool Sports network, to discuss his new venture.
Reunited at last. In a long-awaited/anticipated first media appearance anywhere, Gerry Callahan sat down with former radio partner Kirk Minihane on the irreverent Kirk Minihane Show podcast, a daily offering that is part of the Barstool Sports network.
As expected, Kirk Minihane, the former WEEI morning drive host, is going to work for Barstool Sports as a daily podcaster. Minihane made the announcement today on Periscope while doing “a little bit of espionage,” which was an unauthorized farewell tour of the Entercom-owned WEEI studios in Boston. Minihane will launch his new platform in Boston and is not relocating to the now-NYC-based Barstool Sports, apart from occasional appearances there.
