As expected, Theresa May has failed to gain U.K. parliamentary approval for the Brexit withdrawal agreement. The vote against the plan, which Leave advocates characterized as Brexit in Name Only, was rejected overwhelmingly in the House of Commons. The margin is being described as the worst parliamentary defeat ever for a U.K. administration.

From Westmonster:

“In a historic moment, MPs in Parliament have today rejected Theresa May’s EU deal. It is a hammer blow that means the Prime Minister must, finally, wake up.

It is a truly damning result: MPs voted 432 to 202 to reject the deal.
Theresa May must now recognise that her deal is dead and prepare the country to leave with a No Deal Brexit on 29th March 2019, as is in law.

She and her government have promised the country will leave on that date. This is truly a matter of trust and faith in our democracy.

Prime Minister May’s conduct, which led to today’s defeat, has been inexplicable.

In the June 23, 2016, referendum, the British public voted to leave or exit the European Union and reclaim the country’s sovereignty, including control over its borders.

A devoted globalist, May supported the Remain side in the referendum, but upon taking office as prime minister, promised that Brexit means Brexit and she would honor the will of the people. She also said that no deal is better than a bad deal.

The PM and her team negotiable negotiated a very bad divorce deal that keeps the U.K. under the thumb of the European Union bureaucracy, however, capitulating to the EU on virtually every key issue.

In this way, she flip-flopped entirely; her position essentially became a bad deal is better than no deal. All the while she pretended that her deal would restore the country’s freedom.

So-called Remainers, who with the U.K.’s version of the fake news media, are still stoking Project Fear, want a second referendum, which May has ruled out. The London-centric globalists are already seizing upon today’s development as an excuse to short-circuit Brexit entirely.

Brexiteers among the Conservatives and others maintain that a no-deal Brexit would allow the U.K. to more efficiently negotiate free-trade agreements with individual countries under World Trade Organization rules.

The opposition far-left Labor Party, most of whom voted against the deal even though are pro-EU, are now seeking to topple the May government, which is Conservative in Name Only.

Again, the way Theresa May botched Brexit is incomprehensible, perhaps even worse than the way Obama gave away the store in the Iran Nuclear Deal. All this chaos could have been avoided if May had negotiated a “proper,” as they say in the U.K., Brexit. The logical first step would have been to appoint a strong Brexiteer as lead negotiator, with the civil service required to follow suit.

Apart from political establishment figures who receive a check from an EU-allied entity, and EU apologists in the media, what rational person would want the country shackled to a corrupt, bloated organization like the EU? The EU was originally sold to the British people as an economic grouping rather than a supra-nation.

Calling for Theresa May to step down in the aftermath of the vote, in an interview on Good Morning Britain, Brexit champion Nigel Farage described Theresa May’s deal as a “surrender document.” He also underscored that British law requires the country to leave the EU on March 29 no matter that.

Farage cautioned, however, that devious politicians in parliament may try to extend Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, the document that started the two-year Brexit countdown, thereby circumventing Brexit contrary to the will of the British people, and possibly paved the way for a needless, second referendum.
