The irreverent Turtleboy Sports blog is definitely not for everyone. The muckraking, adult content is often vulgar, but its slick writers could even give the clever New York Post headline writers some pointers. The entertaining and provocative Massachusetts-based blog focuses mainly on municipal corruption, felonious activity, and welfare cheats rather than sports. No surprise that the blog has broken stories that initially escaped the notice of the mainstream media. Like it or agree with its content or not, the future of Turtleboy Sports, and its slightly toned down TB Daily News version, has emerged as an online free speech issue.

Attempts to Silence Turtleboy

On his podcast, owner and former teacher “Uncle Turtleboy” recently put out an SOS about what’s necessary to keep the blog from going out of business. While he has been sued before, a pending intrusive lawsuit that he characterized as harassment has become particularly problematic. An all-too-familiar SJW-orchestrated advertiser boycott is making things worse. Plus his hard-working pro bono attorney apparently has reached the burn-out stage.

In addition to outlining the challenges the blog faces, his YouTube presentation embedded below also contains some interesting information about the Turtleboy Sports business model and editorial policy.

Ideologically, Uncle Turtleboy described himself previously as a left-leaning centrist. He admits, however, that SJWs and the authoritarian, politically correct mob have driven him to the Trump-supporting right.

Loyal Readers A.K.A. Turtle Riders Respond

An appreciative Uncle Turtleboy subsequently explained that his urgent announcement and call to action to “turtle riders” resulted in them coming out of their shells in a big way:

“Donations flooded in, people began buying things in the store, a bunch of you got the ad free subscription, and I have so many messages to return from people inquiring about joining our sales team and other forms of help. It’s going to take me some time, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate and value all of you…”

Uncle Turtleboy is due to appear on “Enough About Me,” former WEEI host Kirk Minihane’s Radio.com podcast. Check back for updates.

Update: The Kirk Minihane interview has dropped. Listen to the Minihane interview with Turtleboy here. Among other things, Uncle Turtleboy explains what led to him launching the Turtleboy blog, and how he’s been repeatedly banned by Facebook and Twitter (the latter which includes anyone at his IP address), He added that to avoid groupthink, websites (at least those doing investigate journalism) moving forward will likely need to be self funded. With all the talk of election meddling, Turtleboy also suggested that the liberal Big Tech platforms are engaging meddling in elections by censoring high-traffic sites for political reasons.
