Ever notice how the left actually engages in the very behavior that it accuses the right of doing? It’s happened again. Police at the University of Berkeley, the “birthplace of the free speech movement,” say that have identified an individual who is suspected of physically assaulting a conservative activist who was recruiting for Turning Point USA.
A video clip of the seemingly very real, rather than fake, attack went viral.
From the Berkeleyside local news site:
“UCPD Sgt. Bryan Sato said Friday that the department received a report of battery around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, and is continuing to investigate the incident. UC Berkeley spokesman Dan Mogulof and UCPD sent a statement Friday afternoon announcing a suspect had been identified. His name was not released.”
Cops say the alleged assailant is not a student at the college.
In a press release, a university official condemned the attack.

Triggered by the MAGA Hat
Separately, cops arrested a woman at a Cape Cod restaurant for harassing a man who was eating his dinner while wearing a pro-Trump, MAGA hat, CBS News reports.

“Police said the ‘highly intoxicated’ woman called Turner a ‘motherf***er’ for supporting President Trump and that he shouldn’t be allowed to eat at a Mexican restaurant. As officers walked the woman outside, she hit Turner again. While being frisked, she allegedly yelled, ‘Oh yeah, you want to touch me, huh?’ The woman gave one officer the middle finger and said, “I only had three mojitos.'”
The suspect, who pleaded not guilty to disorderly conduct and assault and battery, is due back in court on March 20, the Cape Cod Times reported.
CBS News subsequently reported that the woman is an illegal alien and “has been ordered to appear before an immigration judge for removal proceedings.”
Particularly in the Jussie Smollett context, Legal Insurrection founder William Jacobson observes that the hoax-pushing media is operating from the same playbook as it did during the Tea Party movement. Prodded by Democrat operatives, you may recall that the media claimed that Tea Party members (everyday, peaceful concerned citizens exercising their constitutional right to assemble) rather than their confrontational opponents were lawbreakers.
“The media still plays the role of creating false narratives that ordinary law-abiding Americans who oppose liberals are dangerous and prone to violence,” Prof. Jacobson wrote.
As alluded to above, the Vans shoe store chain fired a Kansas employee for cursing out a 14-year-old MAGA hat wearer, Breitbart reported.
In Tennessee, a man who allegedly pulled a gun on two Sam’s Club customers who was wearing a MAGA hat faces a charge of first-degree wanton endangerment, WNKY News reported.
