Even many liberals are admitting that a rush to judgment occurred in the massive condemnation of the MAGA-hat-wearing Covington Catholic High School students after a video went viral on social media. With additional footage of the incident that doesn’t fit the initial narrative, it turns out that Covington teens may have been bullied rather than being bullies at the pro-life event, rendering it yet another example of anti-Trump fake news. Certainly in the aftermath of this incident, moreover, the students been on the receiving end of all kinds of threats. The “opposition party” mainstream media seldom takes any interest in Trump supporters who are harassed, threatened, doxed, or physically assaulted, however. The Kentucky high school itself had to shut down today for safety reasons.

According even to left-wing website Mediaite, many in the blue-check brigade are deleting their tweets that jumped to conclusions, sometimes with violent rhetoric. The families are considering legal action for libel or slander against those who leveled false allegations, and hopefully they will follow through. At least one lawyer has volunteered to take their case pro bono.

Even some conservatives, i.e., the cohort that puts the con in conservative, joined in the smear campaign. As The Five co-host Greg Gutfeld recently remarked, virtue signalling is an insurance policy against the social media mob.

The tweets maligning the teens are being archived by the #VerifiedBullies data base.

Last night on FNC, both Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham provided a fuller context of what happened at the Lincoln Memorial.

Even President Trump used his Twitter platform to weigh in on the the latest fake news over the MAGA kids.

There are unconfirmed reports that the students will meet with President Trump at the White House.

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin also weighed in:

According to Twitter user “Snake Plissken,” this incident is merely a warm-up act or a proxy dispute for the response from the left if Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg steps down, and the president, as expected, nominates pro-life catholic Judge Amy Barrett for the seat.

Parenthetically, the Washington Post is reporting now that the gentleman beating the drum during the incident, while a veteran, never served in Vietnam.

Apart from their rush to headline any anti-Trump report with sketchy sourcing, this is hardly the first time that the media, which puts the “jerk” in knee-jerk, published a story about a hate crime, or the equivalent, which turned to be a hoax.
