Last year, Harvard historian Niall Ferguson made an interesting prediction. According to Ferguson, “Silicon Valley is never going to let 2016 happen again.” He was talking about the presidential election victory by Donald Trump. The latest in a series of exposes by James O’Keefe and the Project Veritas crew seems to validate that prediction.
An anonymous Google insider with his voice and face concealed told O’Keefe that Google is a “highly biased political machine” intent on preventing Trump’s reelection (or any similar populist candidate) through algorithm manipulation and Orwellian suppressing any non-progressive content. So-called Machine Learning Fairness is one of Google’s euphemistic tools to implement censorship.
On the same video, a Google exec in an undercover sequence implies that the company wants to prevent a “Trump situation.”
On the alert for “right wingers,” Google-owned YouTube allegedly targeted, among others, videos made by Dave Rubin and Tim Pool for suppression. Both men, who are free speech advocates. have large followings. However, Rubin describes himself as a classical liberal, while Pool has said that he is a liberal centrist.
From The Epoch Times:
“Google, the world’s largest internet company with some 100,000 employees and more than $130 billion in annual revenue, has long been accused of channeling the politics of its mostly left-leaning workforce into its products, which the company has repeatedly denied. The latest revelations, however, depict a company that has expended substantial effort in putting its thumb on the political scales after the 2016 election…Google believes that by filtering, ranking, aggregating, or generating media through its products, its users are ‘programmed’ to certain worldviews, an internal document suggests…
If YouTube decides to take down the 25-minute video, which is likely under the current climate, watch it on the Project Veritas website and draw your own conclusions.
“Project Veritas intends to continue investigating abuses in big tech companies and encourages more Silicon Valley insiders to share their stories through their Be Brave campaign,” the muckraking website promised.
Particularly in the last six months, the monopolistic Big Tech or Big Social platforms — which routinely claim to be neutral — and others have censored or otherwise sidelined mainstream conservative, populist, or libertarian websites, content creators, and/or personalities for vague violations of terms of service ( (wholly unrelated to fringe actors).
Methods include algorithm changes, suspensions, permanent bans, shadow-banning, throttling, de-platforming, and/or de-monetization.
These organizations hardly ever suspend leftists or SJWs no matter how abusive or vulgar their content (including violent rhetoric) become, however, including targeted harassment. Payment processors are also getting into the de-platforming game.
You may notice that hashtags critical of the progressive ideology often don’t autocomplete on Twitter.
Regardless of what you think of O’Keefe’s brand of journalism, this newest disclosure, if accurate, has to be of great concern to anyone who supports free speech and who purports to oppose election meddling.
It’s also another example of the intolerance of those who preach tolerance.
