On Patrol: Live Recap for June 26, 2026 (#OPL Episode 04-89)

OPL stats 06_26_26
  • Green County, Mo. — Deputy Tony Taylor initiates a traffic stop for no tags. The cooperative, cheerful driver allegedly has a suspended license. On Patrol: Live caption: “Arrested for driving while suspended.” Deputy Taylor allows the driver’s sister to pick up the car on scene rather than towing it. On Patrol: Live caption: “Big sister to the rescue.” Deputy Taylor encourages the sister to try to convince her sibling to get her license straightened out to avoid more serious legal issues in connection with driving while suspended.

Deputy Taylor recap: “Initially, we pulled her over for no tags. Car came back clean, wasn’t stolen. However, when I ran her, she’s had multiple citations issued for driving while suspended, and she’s still out driving, so she’ll be going to jail tonight, and it’ll be a book and release. Clearly, tickets and other things weren’t warning her enough, so she’ll go to jail for a little bit. And her sister’s gonna come get the car…”

  • Toledo, Ohio On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of teenage girl shot.” Officer Kaleb Torbet and other cops, plus paramedics, respond to the scene in a residential neighborhood where the victim, a woman in her 20s, was shot in the head. Police put the house on lockdown pending arrival of detectives. On Patrol: Live caption: “Treating shooting victim.” Responders transport the victim to a local hospital. The alleged suspect had already fled the home. Officer Torbet provides several updates, and he and colleagues canvas the area for a suspect. Drones deployed. Other cops subsequently detain a male at a convenience store who may or may not be involved (Dan Abrams: “The person who they were questioning that we saw earlier — seems that they’re still trying to determine if he was somehow connected…”). Officer Torbet later provides an update (see video clip below) with the tragic news that the victim died at the hospital. Detectives who are investigating also continue to process the crime scene, and the search for the suspect is ongoing.

Officer Torbet: “…the best source of information is always your barkeeps, you inkeeps, also your convenience store clerks…”

Listen below to Tom Rizzo earlier discuss the importance of a good canvas:

  • Baton Rouge, La. — Sergeant Jordon Lear spots a driver going into a convenience store who is allegedly wanted on a warrant for second-degree battery. Sgt. Lear, Corporal Charleston Armstrong, and another officer detain the man in the store. Sgt. Lear: “…we can see in plain view, the bags of weed, and looks like some moon rocks.” Car search. On Patrol: Live caption: “Arrested on outstanding warrant.”
  • Dorchester County, S.C.On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of golf club breaking window.” Lieutenant Michael Contino and other units respond to the scene where the complainant claims that a woman was allegedly bashing his truck window with a golf club. After an investigation on scene, the female is arrested. Bleeping.

Lt. Contino recap: “So this young lady’s going to jail for vandalism, smashing the guy’s windshield, and he’s telling us she’s very intoxicated. Came out after an argument, hit his windshield with a golf club. She had to be held back by the other male on scene as a witness that told us he saw her throwing the golf club down. The victim also had a video that he showed us where you can hear her screaming in the background, hear the glass breaking, and hear her just carrying on screaming. So she’s gonna go to jail for damaging the windshield tonight.”

  • Toledo, Ohio On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of shooting.” Detectives Jake Bombrys and Dustin Mickles respond to this call at an apartment complex. Two subjects detained on scene.

Listen below to Det. Bombrys recap this incident, including potential gun-related arrests, followed by studio panel reaction about the scene:

  • On Patrol: Live caption: “Intimate moments ago”:

On Patrol: Live host Dan Abrams: “Many of you ask us, ‘what are you guys do during breaks,’ right? We get this question on social media. We end up watching stuff like this happening in various places that we are covering.” Larkin: “Something’s being covered.” Abrams: “Never certain how our camera people make the decision.” Larkin: “Our viewers love the animals.” Abrams: “And we tell them to follow where the action is. And so it would seem that is where the action was…” Tom Rizzo also chimes in.

  • Triple Play #1 — a Michigan State Police pursuit of a vehicle allegedly connected to a recent homicide.

On Patrol: Live Hour 2

  • Clayton County, Ga. — Deputies Devon Brown and Desmond Whitson initiate a traffic stop on Tesla. Alleged weed odor. After the initial contact, the car takes off, prompting a long police pursuit, during which officers, including Deputy Shamari Davis, lose sight of the fleeing vehicle. Abrams: “So they lost visual, but they still got the license plate readers telling them exactly where this vehicle may be. This is not over, certainly not in Clayton County.” Deputy Davis points out that Teslas are “extremely hard to PIT because they’re so heavy.” Lieutenant Jonathan Carey subsequently spots the car and intervenes, which brings the pursuit to a close (“…he stopped. I hit his car to prevent him from going again…”) On Patrol: Live caption: “Suspect in custody.” Car search; drugs allegedly found. On Patrol: Live caption: “Collecting evidence.” Deputies provide various updates in the course of the pursuit, including Deputy Brown lamenting a “rookie mistake” because he sensed the driver might flee from the latter’s body language.

Listen below to Deputies Brown and Davis, plus the #OPLive studio panel, preliminarily react to this incident:

Lieutenant Joseph Toombs recap: “Welcome to Clayton County, and we’re taking your vehicle from you. He’s gonna be looking at a whole lot of prison time. This dude caused chaos and hell throughout Clayton County…he has a lot of drugs. The guy isn’t too smart for coming into Clayton County with it. They initiated a traffic stop. When started grabbing for his license, they smelled the odor of marijuana coming out of the vehicle. They told him to exit the car. He took off; they initiated a pursuit. Pursued this guy all around a big circle, and we finally got him. Lieutenant Carey was able to PIT him, knock him off the road, and here we are.” Lt. Carey clarifies that “it wasn’t a PIT…I hit his car to prevent him from going again…”

Lt. Carey chats with the driver on a low-key basis: “…A piece of weed? You know you got hella weed….you put a lot of lives in danger; could have killed a lot of people. Could have killed us…”

Listen below as Sean Larkin and Tom Rizzo in the On Patrol: Live studio discuss the potential vehicle forfeiture process:

Deputy Davis on the depleted Tesla battery: “So the irony of this all is I drive a Tesla, right? And so when I knew we were in pursuit of this Tesla, I automatically started thinking he’s not gonna make it very far, and I was right, because he’s at zero miles, right? It literally says, like, charge now, battery to low, charge immediately, so your vehicle will start and remain responsive. He wasn’t gonna make it pretty far in this Tesla. So if I were you, I wouldn’t run in a Tesla; at least run with something where you can, like, stop by the gas station, put like five dollars in to keep running. Not something you got to plug in — battery too low. He didn’t even pay his balance. He couldn’t even charge. ‘Charging unavailable. Check unpaid balance.'”

Lt. Toombs update: “This guy has enough drugs to supply the 4/20 fest. Get everybody high in Atlanta right now. As much dope as you can handle. Vacuum sealed…we’re gonna relieve him of his car. He’s gonna get some bologna sandwiches, and he’s gonna get ‘buried alive’ for having all of these drugs as well. #OPLive host Dan Abrams: “Always about the bologna. And the sandwiches.”

  • Tempe, Ariz. — Sergeant Andres Molin on a friendly bicycle stop where he and the bicyclist discuss tattoos. Abrams”…a man with a long history; lots of stories to tell. Seems obviously Sgt. Molina knowns him from back in the day.”
  • Fullerton, Calif. (pre-recorded segment) — Cops respond to a fight outside a downtown bar and detain two males. #OPLive host Abrams: “It was ‘fight night’ there, and just when [officers] thought the ‘main event’ as over, they realized it was just the ‘undercard.'”

Listen below to Officer Tyler Rogers’ recap:

  • Richland County, S.C. — Master Deputy Cordell Brown makes routine contact with a man outside of a store (“What’s your drink of choice?”) who is subsequently released after a pat-down. Abrams: “He’ll be going on his way.”
  • Triple Play #2 — An Arkansas State Police pursue “a runaway vehicle with the driver passed out behind the wheel.”

On Patrol: Live Hour 3

  • Toledo, Ohio — Det. Bombrys and Mickles on a traffic stop. Alleged expired registration and suspended license. Car search. “Why are you lying to me? There’s crack on the ground.”

Listen below to Det. Bombrys incident summary:

  • Dorchester County, S.C. — Lt. Contino and Corporal Joseph Carrillo respond to a report of teenagers congregating at or outside a home; they allegedly ran when police arrived. “…they said they’re swimming but nobody’s in a bathing suit…” The lieutenant also makes contact with the dad on scene. A ticket for underage drinking possibly might be issued to the teen who “fessed up.”

Listen below to Lt. Contino’s incident summary:

  • Tempe, Ariz. (pre-recorded segment) — Upon being flagged own by security, the bike patrol responds when, according to Dan Abrams, “a mascot outside a local bar discovered the hard way that it’s not always easy being green.” After an investigation, cops arrest a male for alleged assault on the mascot.

Listen below to Officer Nick Haven’s recap:

  • Baton Rouge, La. — Sgt. Lear, Officer Jordan Spencer, and other units conduct a traffic stop for alleged serving. Possible open container. The driver says there is nothing illegal in the car. Sgt. Lear: “Honesty goes a long, long way with me,. What does not go is bull sh*t…” Car search. The driver, who says he isn’t feeling well, might have a warrant. Separately, some sort of handcuff malfunction appears to have occurred. Dan Abrams: “Wow — never seen that before where cops had to use bolt cutters to cut off their own handcuffs from someone.”

Listen below to Sgt. Lear’s preliminary recap:

  • Richland County, S.C. (pre-recorded segment) — Master Deputy Luke Martin initiates a traffic stop apparently for a tint-related issue. Alleged weed odor. Car search. Two guns allegedly found. One occupant is arrested for alleged “possession of a machine gun and at least simple possession of marijuana.” The other occupants are released. Deputy Martin has some fans in a passing car.
  • Colton, Calif. — Sergeant Thomas Enriquez backs up Officer Evan Vardayou on a traffic stop. Four occupants. The driver allegedly has a warrant
  • Dorchester County, S.C. — As the episode concludes (see video clip above and below), Lt. Contino, Cpl. Carrillo, and Sgt. Marc Mood make contact with a man outside a store in a strip mall who is allegedly setting up a tent and building a hot dog stand. On Patrol: Live captions: “Pitching a tent,” “Glizzy gazebo.” Dan Abrams: “No weapons — just wieners.”
