On Patrol: Live Recap for Saturday, October 3, 2026 (#OPL Episode 05-22)

OPL stats 10_03_26
pie chart Oct 2_3_2026
  • Baton Rouge, La. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Dirt bike pursuit.” In the video clip below, Officer Daivd Hayden and Corporal Jermain Javius chase a bike with no lights. On Patrol: Live caption: “Searching for fleeing suspect.” As Officer Hayden mentions in the clip below, the individual gets way, however — “…took us on a little scavenger hunt…”
  • Fullerton, Calif. — Officer Jason Coleman backs up Officers Ricky Akles and Tyler Rodgers on a friendly traffic stop. Two occupants. Car search. One of the subjects responds when Officer Coleman asks him “if you were running for president, what would you campaign on?” Cops subsequently release the subjects.

#OPLive host Dan Abrams: “Elimination of alleyways could become a big ’28 issue…”

Officer Coleman recap: “So it sounds like it was just a stop for the traffic violation. They got a warning for it. And talking to one of the guys, he said that he used to affiliate with a criminal street gang that’s neighboring to our city. Said that he’s not with them anymore. He’s been clean 16 months which obviously thinks we want to hear. But good work by Officer Rodgers and Officer Akles as always. These guys are the kings and the best.”

  • Richland County, S.C. — In a very confusing situation involving a lot of conversation that consumes an inordinate amount of airtime, Master Deputy Colin Davis and other units respond to some sort of alleged disturbance supposedly involving a gun. They make contact with a male on scene who is not involved in the call. The subject’s wife, the vehicle’s owner, comes to the scene to drive the car home. Deputy Davis indicates that there is no law enforcement issue. The car intermittently runs, so deputies push it off the the road for safety. The car then seemingly starts up.

#OPLive host Dan Abrams: “There’s a lot of unanswered questions, but as [Deputy Davis] said, that doesn’t make it a crime…”

Listen below to Deputy Davis’ preliminary recap (“…his story is making no sense…):

Listen below to Deputy Davis’ follow-up explanation and some #OPLive studio panel reaction:

  • Richland County, S.C. — K9 Specialist John O’Shaughnessy and other units, including Deputy Davis, respond to report of a break-in at a residence. Ring camera footage depicts four masked potential home invaders who are at large. K9 Bobi deployed. On Patrol: Live caption: “K9 searching for suspects.” As indicated in the video clips below, the investigation is ongoing.
  • Greene County, Mo. — In the video clip below, Deputy Tasha Thomas conducts a moped stop with a “makeshift trailer” for various infractions. The passenger is detained on a warrant. The driver is released with a warning. On Patrol: Live studio analyst Tom Morris, Jr. “Greene County engineer.”
  • Berkeley County, S.C. — Sergeant Devonte Carr provides backup on a traffic stop for a cracked windshield. In the interaction, Sgt. Carr wonders why the driver appears so nervous and adds that “you’re making me nervous.” Car search.

Sgt. Carr: “..there’s a million reasons why somebody could be nervous. You could be nervous because your license is suspended or your could be nervous because there’s a dead boy in the trunk…”

Abrams update: “Three people were out of the vehicle. Meth pipe discovered. Destroyed the meth pipe. All parties were released there with no charges.”

  • Bradford, Ark. — Sergeant Kristen McGlothlin conducts a cordial bicycle stop and subsequently releases the operator with a safety warning, “something to make you visible.”
  • Greene County, Mo. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Reports of shots fired.” Corporal AJ McCall and other units initiate a traffic stop on a car that purportedly matches the alleged suspect vehicle. It turns out that the cooperative drive is not involved and is quickly released.

On Patrol: Live Hour 2

  • Triple Play #3 — A Moore, Okla., PD pursuit in which one of the officers unleashes his “inner Ric Flair.”
  • Baton Rouge, La. — Officer Hayden and Corporal Javius conduct a traffic stop. Alleged weed odor. According to Cpl. Javius, “she has a firearm with her.” Car search. Abrams update: Police had “stopped the woman with the open container and the pink gun, and the marijuana. The marijuana was destroyed. The drink that she had was poured out. She was released with a warning.”
  • Toledo, Ohio — Detectives Steve Kucinski and Rob Tyburski initiate a traffic stop for allegedly “rolling” a red light and then made “an improper turn.” After initially pulling over, the car flees from the stop. On Patrol: Live caption: “In pursuit.” Cops lose sight of the fleeing vehicle in the highway chase, but they have the subject’s ID in hand. The detectives, plus Officers Draper, Yakumithis and other cops, subsequently converge on the subject’s address of record and make contact with his cooperative dad. On Patrol: Live caption: “Pursuit suspect’s house.” The subject, whose license is suspended, is not home at the time. Investigation ongoing; warrants to issue.

Listen below to Dan Abrams, Tom Rizzo, and Tom Morris, Jr. in the #OPLive studio react to this incident followed by some additional police comments:

One of the detectives on scene: “My partner made contact with the suspect’s father, and he’s just gonna talk to him, and see if he can possibly get him to come here, and maybe turn himself in…

Dorchester County, S.C. — Corporal Morgan Dangerfield and at least one other deputy makes contact with a man who showed up at a fire house who says he is lost. #OPLive host Dan Abrams: “Tom Rizzo, would you agree with me if the fire department said, ‘you know what? Let’s make this the police’s problem.'”

  • Greene County, Mo. — Corporal McCall and colleagues make a traffic stop allegedly for a defective tail light and for speeding. With some fatherly type advice, the corporal cautions the driver, age 19, that underage, recreational weed possession is illegal in the state. Consensual car search. On Patrol: Live caption: “Paraphernalia destroyed.” The cooperative driver is released with a warning.
  • Richland County, S.C. — Deputy Davis conducts a friendly traffic stop on a truck for speeding. The driver apparently had just hit a deer with the vehicle. On Patrol: Live caption: “Confirmed: Deer in headlights.” The driver is set to be released with a warning after a license check.

Listen below to Dep. Davis’ incident recap: (“…that’s our third interesting call for the day so far…”):

  • Toledo, Ohio — Offices Eric Draper, Alex Yakumithis, and other cops converge on a residence in response to a weapons call. A female caller claims that someone was trying to stab her. In the course of the investigation, a male is detained who seems to claim that he acted in self defense. According to an officer on scene, “..as far as right now, it just seems like a domestic, kind of…can’t keep their hands to theirselves…” #OPLive studio host Dan Abrams: “Not your typical newlyweds, but they will investigate and see what else they find.”

Abrams update: “Remember the newlyweds who had the squabble? The guy said he just bought his wife some chicken and they were fighting. The parties decided not to press charges against one another. No charges were brought in connection with that one.”

  • Berkeley County, S.C. — Sergeant Carr initiates a traffic stop when he spots a man allegedly urinating outside. On Patrol: Live caption: “Roadside restroom?”

On Patrol: Live Hour 3

  • Bernalillo County, N.M. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of shots fired.” Deputies Jose De La Cruz and Matthew Lamoureux respond to the scene where they make contact with two males. When they arrive at the location, one of the males is on the ground with what appears to be a bump on the head. The man who deputies say is “pretty beat up” apparently declines medical attention. #OPLive host Dan Abrams: “Still a little unclear on exactly what happened.” After an investigation, deputies apparently conclude that a fight might have allegedly occurred, but seemingly no gun was involved. #OPLive host Dan Abrams: “So it seems unlikely that any charges will end up getting filed there”

Listen below to the deputies discuss the findings in their on-scene investigation:

  • Toledo, Ohio — Officers Draper and Yakumithis and other cops respond to a multi-vehicle accident. A foot pursuit occurs on scene when a female driver allegedly attempts to flee. The vocal subject who has facial bleeding is forcefully detained. Paramedics summoned to the scene and transport her to the hospital on a stretcher. Bleeping.

#OPLive host Dan Abrams: “Just to be clear, she was just involved in a very serious accident, and you saw the other people on that scene pointing to where she had run right after the accident, and the officers went there, and there she was. So that’s the context.”

On Patrol: Live studio host Dan Abrams: “The answers [to her questions] are fairly straightforward. The reason that she is at least detained at this point is because she is suspected of having fled the scene of a very serious accident. And so, now, the investigation will continue…and she was not happy about being brought back to the scene.”

Officer Draper preliminary recap: “So right now, she’s gonna be going to the hospital to be medically evaluated. She’ll be charged with OVI, resisting arrest, obstructing, and leaving the scene of an accident. The other party involved already got transported to the hospital to seek medical attention, so they’re already getting taken care of. Just get her taken care of, we’ll get the cars out of the way, and then go from there.”

  • Tempe, Ariz. — Officer Austin Johnson makes a safety-related traffic stop on a pickup truck with someone riding in the bay which appears filled with items including a grill. On Patrol: Live caption: “Backseat barbecue.” Officer Johnson indicates that he intends to just give the driver a warning for an unsafe load if the passenger is 18 or over. #OPLive studio host Dan Abrams: “That would seem to be an unsafe load…”

Officer Johnson explains the basis for the stop to the driver: “Appears to be pretty unsafe for your passenger, okay? If he’s above the age of 18, he’s legally allowed to ride in the bed of a pickup truck. It needs to be done safely. This does not appear to be safe, just kind of how it’s not restrained at all…”

  • Missing segment — Tucson, Ariz.
  • Baton Rouge, La. — In the video clip below, Corporal Javius conducts a bicycle stop for alleged improper lighting and alleged drinking and driving. Open container poured out. Cpl. Javius ends up releasing the bicyclist with a stern safety warning. Officer Hayden, who is also on scene, adds that “in the city of Baton Rouge, bicyclists have to follow the rules of the road. Drive with the flow, red lights, stop signs, all of it.”
  • Tempe, Ariz. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of incident at a bar.” After making contact with the bartender (who declines to press charges for whatever allegedly happened), Officer Johnson locates the subject and informs him in the video clip below that he is trespassed from the establishment.

Listen below to Officer Johnson summarizing the allegations prior to locating the subject:

  • Greene County, Mo. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of drunk man talking to pole.” In the video clips above and below, Corporal McCall and other units make contact with a male who is laying down in a ditch near a highway. As the episode concludes, deputies speak with the man’s wife on the wife to arrange for him to get home safely. On Patrol: Live follow-up captions: “Drunk man taking weed nap,” “Happy median,” “Wishing for a hammock,” “Making reservation for couch at home.”
