On Patrol: Live Recap for Friday, October 25, 2026 (#OPL Episode 05-21)

  • Baton Rouge, La. — In the video clip below, Sergeant Jordon Lear and Officer Christopher Coleman initiate a traffic stop on a slow roller that had its brights on and prior to the stop “appeared to be driving very reckless.” Sgt. Lear conducts a preliminary field sobriety test and determines the driver is good to drive. Sgt. Lear releases the driver with a warning to slow down and to remove the dark window tint. Corporals Terrance Smith and Jermaine Javius are also on scene.

Listen below to Sgt. Lear’s summary: “So ultimately, I didn’t see no sign of intoxication…”:

  • Berkeley County, S.C. — Corporal Bryson Fowler and other deputies conduct a traffic stop at a gas station. Alleged weed odor. Car search. On Patrol: Live caption: “Drugs and gun found.” The driver appears to be wearing an ankle monitor. The alleged drugs will be sent to the crime lab for testing. In the meantime, Cpl. Fowler says the driver is getting arrested. Cops will also try to determine if the driver is prohibited from having a firearm.
  • Fullerton, Calif. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Responding to noise complaint.” Officers Ricky Akles and Tyler Rodgers, along with several colleagues, respond to a large pool party. Officer Akles recap: “…from two to 300 people back there just playing music. Looks like it’s a pool party, but you have a lot of neighbors that are coming up. They said it’s a quiet neighborhood, and today they’ve just been dealing with these people just playing music all day. So we’re gonna attempt to shut it down, but it’s kind of hard in these situations, so we just issue them notices, and then when we issue them notices, then it’ll get sent to the city attorney’s office for filing considerations.”
  • Bernalillo County, N.M. — Deputy Matthew Lamoureux initiates a cordial traffic stop for a non-functioning or intermittent brake light. He gives the driver’s daughter a teddy bear and releases the motorist with a warning to get the brake light fixed. Deputy Lamoureux: “It sounds like from what she’s saying, sometimes the brake light works, sometimes it doesn’t…and she’s borrowing the vehicle from her mom…I’m pretty sure I have some toddy bears in the back, so I’m just gonna check her license, make sure she’s valid, and then try to get that teddy and get them on their way.”

Dan Abrams: “So if she isn’t valid, does the kid still get the teddy bear?”

  • Fullerton, Calif. (pre-recorded segment) — As explained in the video clip below, Officer David Alarid detains a pedestrian on an suspicious behavior allegation (“this guy’s the definition of suspicious”) and, after an investigation, ends up arresting the subject.
  • Baton Rouge, La. — Sgt. Lear along with Officer Coleman and Corporal Javius conduct a traffic stop. Police drag the driver out of the car and detain him. On Patrol: Live caption: “Gun and pills found.” The animated driver denies that the pills belong to him. He also says his mom owns the car. Officer Coleman: “So your mama rides around with pills like that?”

Sgt. Lear preliminary recap: “…about the same time, I was able to see this guy refusing to get out of the car. There was obviously a rifle in the car, so we’re not gonna tolerate the funny business with guns that’s easily accessible. So they pulled him out of the car. We advised him of his rights. He’s saying that he don’t know why the car smells like weed, but I can smell it. So we’ll search the car, see what else we got other than a rifle.”

  • Triple Play #1 — an Eastport, Mich., police pursuit resulting in the subject being held in the McComb County jail on a million dollar bond.
  • Greene County, Mo. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of person with stick threatening drivers.” After searching the area, Deputy Joel Krueger makes low-key contact with and detains a pedestrian in connection with this call. Deputy Krueger: “…when he pulled out his wallet, a needle feel out of his pocket…he told me it was for insulin. I asked him then what do you used it for? And he admitted that he uses it for meth.” The driver ends up getting arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance pending lab test results of a substance in a container.

Listen below to Deputy Krueger’s recaps of this encounter followed by some brief #OPLive studio commentary:

On Patrol: Live Hour 2

  • Toledo, Ohio — On Patrol: Live caption: “Responding to multi-vehicle accident.” Officer Eric Draper and the fire department are on scene in a residential neighborhood. A man being transported to the hospital on a stretcher briefly seems to act out.

Listen below to Officer Draper’s preliminary recap at the accident scene:

  • Tempe, Ariz. (pre-recorded segment) — In the video clip below, Officer Chris Heckel and other bike squad units detain a screaming man who makes reference to Obsession (Abrams: “…the movie, not the fragrance”) and who ends up arrested for disorderly conduct.
  • Baton Rouge, La. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of assault at convenience store.” Sgt. Lear makes contact with witnesses and reviews security video on scene and then searches the area for a suspect “who was just been harassing customers” and who is subsequently spotted nearby and detained. On Patrol: Live caption: “Suspect in custody.” Sgt. Lear is apparently familiar with the suspect.

Listen below to Sgt. Lear’s comments about the arrest followed by On Patrol: Live studio panel discuss the advantanges of community policing:

  • Tempe, Ariz. — Officer Nick Peeler is flagged down by a pedestrian who allegedly “claims that he took some mushrooms and is hallucinating pretty bad.” Paramedics summoned to the scene and transport the man to the hospital. On Patrol: Live caption: “Admitted to ingesting psilocybin.” At another location, Officer Peeler makes a wellness check on the subject’s friend who allegedly also ingested mushrooms; the individual tells Officer Peeler that he is okay. Officer Peeler: “…he is Code 4. He doesn’t need any medical treatment, doesn’t need anything from Tempe Police, so we’re gonna get out of here and continue the night.”

Dan Abrams: “This could be a public service announcement against using mushrooms…”

Listen below to Officer Peeler’s update:

  • Baton Rouge, La. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of breaking windows with a brick.” Sgt. Lear and other cops investigate this incident on scene at a residence and detains a female there. On Patrol: Live caption: “Suspect in custody.”

Sgt. Lear preliminary assessment: “So basically, the female that we encountered when we arrived — she’s an ex-girlfriend who moved out, and apparently she’s mad and came back. She bust all the windows out in the house, and she threw that large piece of concrete as well as, like…a bunch of bricks that are still…together through the window and hit him. So they’re getting his statement in there and we’ll see, they’ll see, what do do with her. But apparently she’s not happy.”

  • Richland County, S.C. — Master Deputy Cordell Brown responds to an alleged fight at a restaurant and mediates and de-escalates an apparent dispute between two female roommates. Deputy Brown to the subjects: “Ain’t trying to be Dr. Phil on y’all…” #OPLive host Dan Abrams: “And sometimes a little Dr. Phil from an officer can be helpful.”

Listen below to Deputy Brown’s recap:

On Patrol: Live Hour 3

  • Triple Play #2 — A pursuit of a bicyclist in Bernalillo County.
  • Bernalillo County, N.M. — Deputy Lamoureux makes a traffic stop on a truck. No plate; no registration. Two occupants.

Toledo, Ohio — On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of disturbance at bus station.” Officer Alex Yakumithis makes contact with the subject who appears to uncooperative. Bleeping. Officer Yakumithis takes down the subject and deploys a taser. Backup arrives on scene. On Patrol: Live caption: “Suspect in custody.” Police make an arrest for alleged criminal trespass. The suspect is taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

Officer Yakumithis recap: “So think it was planned. All the pre-fight indicators and everything: very aggressive and balling up with some fists, not wanting to comply. Didn’t really leave a whole lot of options. He’s gonna get taken into custody for not identifying himself, for criminal trespass because they…said multiple times they didn’t want him here, so now we have this. So we’re gonna have a lot of paperwork.”

Listen below to the panelists, primarily Tom Rizzo, in the On Patrol: Live studio/control center react to this incident:

  • Bernalillo County, N.M. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of man chasing a woman.” Deputy Jose De La Cruz and other units make contact with a couple in the investigation that includes an allegation of a food fight. On Patrol: Live caption: “Responding to domestic incident.” Consensual truck search. #OPLive host Dan Abrams update: “The guy who was the driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance; the woman was released with no charges.”

Listen below to Deputy Del La Cruz’s partial explanation for the vehicle search:

  • Baton Rouge, La. — Sgt. Lear and colleagues spot a vehicle that allegedly fled from police earlier in the day. Traffic stop in a residential driveway. Two occupants detained. On Patrol: Live caption: “Investigating fleeing vehicle.” In the video clip below, Sgt. Lear recaps the incident:
  • Fullerton, Calif. — Cops arrest a male and a female outside a fast-food restaurant. As Officer Rodgers explains in the video clip above, drugs and/or paraphernalia allegedly found.
  • Bernalillo County, N.M. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Tracking motorcycle.” As the show ends, for safety reasons pursuant to policy, Deputy Lamoureux discontinues pursuing a motorcycle that had no plate.
