President Donald Trump chose then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh, a Bush appointee, for the Supreme Court because the consensus pick was a favorite of the GOP establishment, ironically suggesting a easy, non-controversial path to confirmation.

Trump probably would have preferred a more out-of-the-box candidate with no ties to the Bush family. That said, no one obviously expected the controversy that followed. If a  straight-A-student Boy Scout can’t be confirmed to the highest court, who can?

Now that Kavanaugh is confirmed, let the memes begin.

As a thought experiment, imagine what the Democrats nonetheless would have cooked up for Judge Amy Barrett, a mom of seven, who seems likely to be picked for the next vacancy.

The GOP wasn’t messing around; after the 50-48 confirmation vote on Saturday, Kavanaugh was almost immediately sworn in.  As such, only a few cases from the opening week of the high court session will need to be re-heard. A ceremonial swearing-in ceremony will occur Monday night at 7 p.m. at the White House. If the logistics permit, perhaps the White House should have Kavanaugh’s female clerks and other loyal female friends and supporters stand behind him when he takes the oath.

Apart from the way the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee famously treated Judge Bork and then-Judge Clarence Thomas, they leveled an unfounded charge of racism against Samuel Alito in 2006. He went on to be confirmed for the Supreme Court, however, by a vote of 56-42. Before the Dems changed the filibuster rule, they prevented an up-or-down vote on Miguel Estrada even after his nomination cleared the committee.

Here’s what we learned from the Judge Brett Kavanaugh confirmation:

  • Trump, who was a Democrat and independent before running for president on the GOP ticket as a first-time candidate, taught Republicans — including Brett Kavanaugh — how to fight back against the smear machine.

  • Although he gave himself some wiggle room after the Ford testimony, Trump remained in Kavanaugh’s corner
  • Kavanaugh was correct in likening the Democrats’ approach to advise and consent as a search-and-destroy mission
  • Sen. Mitch McConnell is a beast when it comes to judicial nominations and promises more the confirmation of additional appeals court judges before the end of the year

  • Democrats who condemned Brett Kavanaugh have remained silent on the allegations against Keith Ellison, the congressman and DNC official who is running for attorney general in Minnesota
  • Lindsay Graham 2.0 is pretty awesome

  • Although some are finally seeing the light, the dead-end Never Trumpers , who wanted to hand the Supreme Court to Hillary Clinton appointees, look like fools.
  • The one-week pause for FBI background check #7 before the final vote suggested by Sen. Jeff Flake turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
  • The Democrats loved the idea of an additional FBI investigation until the FBI conducted the additional investigation
  • Despite misleading media reporting, Trump has never criticized rank-and-file FBI field agents; his criticism has been directed at pro-Clinton FBI executives in the Washington headquarters.
  • To their credit, Sens. Flake and Collins didn’t cave to bullying and intimidation, and Collins’ speech appeared to be a major turning point.
  • Although most of America is likely conflicted about the sensitive, complex  abortion issue and probably find themselves somewhere in the middle, the Democrats are disturbingly obsessed with the Roe v. Wade decision
  • The Democrats are also obsessed with the non-ascendancy of Judge Merrick Garland, even though it was the their colleague Joe Biden and his so-called Joe Biden rule for no Supreme Court confirmations in a presidential election year
  • Trump continues to fulfill campaign promises, and the radicalism of the Democrats has helped pushed him into governing in a conservative manner
  • Except for Megyn Kelly, the media irresponsibly continued its one-sided, unfair presentation, with Kavanaugh as a proxy for Trump
  • If Justice Kagan is really worried about the loss of a swing vote on the court, she should move to the center

  • Although Sen. Lisa Murkowski changed her no vote to “present” to accommodate colleague Steve Daines who flew back to Montana for his daughter’s wedding, he never should have abandoned his work station during such an important vote when the outcome wasn’t necessarily locked in
  • The anti-Kavanaugh protests by Soros employees or other hysterical individuals will probably die down in favor of the next controversy du jour (e.g., remember when the world was coming to an end after the Net Neutrality repeal?). Dem lawmakers will continue to saber-rattle about impeaching the new Justice, however.

As the blogger at Loves Breeds Accountability wrote about what some have described as Conservative Inc. and other think tank denizens who have accomplished next to nothing substantive, i.e., all talk or all write and no action.

“The failed and now-exiled NeverTrump crowd built their careers twiddling their thumbs while the media and Democrats used identity politics to divide our nation and pummel the right socially and culturally. But because Trump fights, they won’t get to do the same with #MeToo politics. It’s a victory for due process. It’s a victory for social evolution and progress. It’s a political victory for the pro-Liberty movement, and a major loss for the big government SJW activists. And yes it’s a big win for the Supreme Court. And it’s all because Trump fights.”
