On Patrol: Live Recap for Friday, August 28, 2026 (#OPL Episode 05-15)
- Baton Rouge, La. — On Patrol: Live captions: “Report of a disturbance at a takeout joint,” “Investigating disturbance at takeout joint.” In the video clip below as the episode opens, Sergeant Jordon Lear, Corporal Jermaine Javius, and other officers detain two nearby male pedestrians in the investigation. The subjects, one of whom allegedly has a firearm, are subsequently released.
- Dorchester County, S.C. — Lieutenant Keith Hunt, Corporal Barry Lowe, and other deputies respond to a residence on a report of a domestic incident. As recapped below, it turns out that there is apparently no law enforcement issue.

Lt. Hunt recap: “From what we can gather, it sounds like it was just a very heated argument between a male and a female. They’ve been together for a long time. Allegedly it was over getting dinner started. The male went to get dinner, and the female didn’t like it. So they got into an argument. But from all the witnesses and their statements, it was just a really loud argument. They’re gonna complete an incident report…” On Patrol: Live host Dan Abrams: “Third-party report does not equal a crime.” On Patrol: Live studio analyst Tom Rizzo: “No; they did their fact-finding, turned out not to be. Now there’s a report filed. People can sign complaints if they want. If not, go their separate ways and be out.” Abrams: “Or not go their separate ways.”
- Richland County, S.C. — Captain Danny Brown initiates a traffic stop for alleged speeding (54 mph in a 40-mph zone). The driver allegedly has an AR on his lap. Consensual car search. Cpt. Brown mentions that there was a shootout with police in the area about a month ago. Cpt. Brown theorizes that a backpack in the vehicle previously contained weed (“…it smells like mega strong…). Cpt. Brown ends up releasing the driver with a warning: “…marijuana in any amount in South Carolina is illegal…leave the green alone…”
Cpt. Brown recap: “Everything checked out on him and the weapon. I don’t think he’s under the influence at all. Seems like if he did smoke, it was, like, way long ago. He’s very articulate. His background checks out, weapon checks out, so we’re gonna release him and the gun. He’s gonna get a warning for the speeding, and just education on smoking and having the guns around. Can’t have it around. The AR pistol’s perfectly carried legal where he had it. Not the smartest way, but it was legal…”
#OPLive host Dan Abrams: “Guy’s admitting there was some marijuana in there. Now he gets to leave, I guess, smelling like a rose.” #OPLive studio analyst Tom Rizzo: “Trade one flower for another.”
- Brookford, N.C. — Chief Will Armstrong conducts a traffic stop on a truck. According to the chief, revoked tag and no license. Chief Armstrong is hardly pleased that the driver allegedly did not reveal he had a gun in the vehicle. The driver allegedly does not have a handgun permit. Vehicle search. Several tickets issued as the chief explains below. A baggie containing a substance is being sent to the lab to test for potential drugs.

- Tempe, Ariz. — Sergeant Andres Molina backs up Detective Shawn McCarthy on a traffic stop. Two occupants. #OPLive host Dan Abrams: “You hear there reference there to a magazine. No gun. That was the initial concern, I guess.” On Patrol: Live caption: “Possible narcotics found.”

Abrams update: “The driver was arrested for possession of a dangerous drug and drug paraphernalia. The passenger was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.”
- Hazen, Ark. — In the video clip below, Chief Bradley Taylor conducts a friendly highway traffic stop. One of the occupants makes reference to the urgent need for a bathroom break. On Patrol: Live caption: “Still squeezin’ cheeks.” The subjects are released.

On Patrol: Live Hour 2
- Hazen, Ark. (pre-recorded segment) — In the video clip below, #OPLive airs additional footage of last Saturday night’s “wild, high-speed pursuit,” which was also previewed on First Shift above. After a methodical highway search, police recovered 42 lbs. of meth with an approximate $2 million street value.
- Baton Rouge, La. — Sgt. Lear attempts a bicycle stop; the subject flees through an apartment complex, resulting in a foot pursuit. Taser deployed; officers on scene detain the subject. Bleeping. On Patrol: Live caption: “Suspect in custody.” Citation issued; the subject is released.
Sgt. Lear recap: “What happened was this individual riding his bicycle from a high-crime, high-drug area, with no lights. Gotta have lights on a bicycle in the state of Louisiana. You also gotta obey all traffic laws. And he was riding on the sidewalk. Can’t do that. So when we went to stop him, he acted like he didn’t hear us, and immediately jumped the curb and came into the apartment complex. He kept running until he cracked his bike right over here…teamwork. We got him. Once I burnt out, [Cpl.] Javius stepped up and caught him…”
On Patrol: Live studio analyst Sean Larkin: “When you got full gear on, depending on how many magazines you’re carrying with ammunition, you’re talking anywhere 25 to 30 pounds. These guys aren’t necessarily young, so anytime you have somebody in gym shorts and a tank top, you kind of gotta let them know how embarrassing it is that they got caught.”
- Fullerton, Calif. — Officers Tyler Rodgers and Ricky Akles respond to an accident where a vehicle hit an e-bike operated by a juvenile. Paramedics on scene. Listen below as Officer Rodgers recaps this incident:
- Triple Play #1 — Two brief pursuits in Lee County, Fla, and Oklahoma City, Okla., respectively.
- Greene County, Mo. — On Patrol: Live captions: “Report of burglary,” “In pursuit of burglary suspect.” #OPLive host Dan Abrams: The driver was “apparently was knocking on doors, trying to break into his ex-girlfriend’s home, and going around honking his horn.” Detective Travis Sanders, Deputy Anthony Bolivar, and other units make a traffic stop at gunpoint on a pickup truck. On Patrol: Live captions: “Felony stop,” “Suspect in custody.” The driver faces several charges as explained below.
Deputy Boliver preliminary recap: The driver allegedly fled from another deputy “at a high rate of speed. We were able to catch up to it…he decided to stop right here. We conducted a felony stop, and we safely got him into custody. Looks like nobody else in the vehicle, so he’s gonna be going to jail tonight for multiple violations…” Det. Sanders additional: “…the owner of the vehicle did say that there was a firearm inside the vehicle, so we got multiple deputies searching the vehicle right now. We’re gonna tow it, inventory it…so it looks like the only thing they found was the firearm.”
Upon noticing some cake in the vehicle, Det. Sanders jokes about it being Deputy Bolivar’s birthday: “Happy birthday Mr. Bolivar…he must have [known]…you are loved by people who don’t even know you.” #OPLive host Dan Abrams: “…I’m guessing Deputy Bolivar will not be eating [that] for his birthday.”

On Patrol: Live Hour 3
- Hazen, Ark. — Chief Taylor conducts a traffic stop on a pickup truck for alleged swerving. Chief Taylor allegedly smells weed: “Do you have marijuana in the vehicle?” Driver: “I shouldn’t; I hope not.” Car search. A small amount of apparent weed is crushed on the ground with a hammer. On Patrol: Live caption: “Hammer time.” The cooperative driver is then released.

- Tempe, Ariz. — In the video clip below, Officer Nick Christy and other units respond to a call about a man allegedly with a knife at a convenience store. Police arrest the man for alleged disorderly conduct.
- Richland County, S.C. — Cpt. Brown and other deputies respond to a possible disturbance at a Waffle House. An apparent female employee is detained on scene. Cpt. Brown gives a First Amendment (and exceptions to same) tutorial to one or more employees as well as explaining that police can conduct investigations at any local licensed business: “At no point, ever, can you guys tells us to leave the property.”
Captain Brown: “…it’s out in public where everybody and their mama can hear it, it is considered disorderly conduct…”

- Baton Rouge, La. — On Patrol: Live captions: “Report of burglary in progress,” “K9 searching for burglary suspect.” In the video clips below, Sgt. Lear, and a group of cops, including Corporals Javius and Corporal Blake Welborn, plus a police dog, enter and search an abandoned building for a potential intruder. As the episode concludes, cops locate and detain a man inside.
- Toledo, Ohio — In the video clip above, Officers Dallas Kwapich and Eric Draper respond to a possible disturbance at McDonald’s and detain a female on scene. Bleeping.
