On Patrol: Live All-New Episode Tonight

On Patrol Live new tonight: A recap of the October 9, 2026, On Patrol: Live episode on Reelz, as anchored in the #OPLive Jersey City, N.J., studio/control center by attorney/executive producer Dan Abrams, along with members of the On Patrol Live studio cast, i.e., retired LEO Sean “Sticks” Larkin and crime reporter Tom Morris, Jr., follows below.

On Patrol: Live cast member Tom Rizzo is off this weekend, but Fullerton, Calif. Police Chief Jon Radus joins the anchor desk panel as guest analyst. Under past practice, this kind of appearance usually means that the agency concerned is leaving the show, and indeed, Fullerton PD is taking a break from On Patrol: Live.

This On Patrol: Live recap/update also includes the often-provocative or playful reaction on X (formerly Twitter) to the law enforcement incidents in the field.

As #OPNation (i.e., the cohort consisting of the show’s avid followers) is well aware, and for those viewers and/or social media users new to the program, On Patrol Live on Reelz is more or less a reboot or rebrand of Live PD.

On Patrol: Live Tonight

For #OPNation, the Tempe, Ariz., pig pursuit was the obvious highlight of this episode of On Patrol: Live during which Idaho Falls, PD, made its debut.

See below for details on all 20 law enforcement encounters across eight scheduled police departments on the current roster in this On Patrol: Live episode guide/recap (although the Berkeley County, S.C., Sheriff’s Office did not appear).

And check back for updates, or potential updates, on open or inconclusive incidents.

As noted above, On Patrol: Live has started to promote its upcoming Halloween night episode. The show was also live during Halloween night 2025, and while there were some studio attempts at humor, there were only one or two calls in the field that were actually Halloween related.

On Patrol: Live Recap for Friday, October 9, 2026 (#OPL Episode 05-23)

OPL stats 10_09_26
  • Baton Rouge, La. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Tracking vehicle.” In the video clip below, Officer Christopher Coleman, Corporal Jermaine Javius, and other cops conduct a traffic stop apparently for a potential window tint violation. There is a gun in the vehicle. Car search. After an investigation, cops determine that the firearm is not stolen, and the driver is likely released after an ID/age check.
  • Bernalillo County, N.M. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of dead body found.” Deputy Dillon Szabo and other units respond to a call about a potential dead body supposedly strapped to the bed of a pickup truck. Vehicle located. Deputy Szabo: “We’ll see if this is a dead body or a Halloween decoration…’tis the season.” After the police investigation, it turns out that a live female was riding in the bed of a truck “and everyone’s fine.”

On Patrol: Live host Dan Abrams: “I guess three options here. Number one, is that it’s real, and there’s a dead body there. And number two is it’s Halloween, and number three is sort of a Weekend at Bernie’s kind of situation. I’m not sure which one, but we will see…as Sean Larkin was just saying, even if there is a dead body, there’s probably no rush because the person is still gonna be dead.” [It turns out to be option four.]

Listen below to Deputy Szabo’s recap:

  • Tempe, Ariz. — After about a half hour of trying, Officer Dave Segura and other units plus a community responder and some citizens chase and finally safely catch a small pig on the loose in a mall parking lot. Chief Jon Radus: “We don’t get to pick the calls we get sent to.” Check back for updates on this incident.

Officer Segura: “…We don’t know where this pig came from…there’s no reason why a pig should be running around the mall down in Tempe…that’s a fast pig…”

#OPLive host Dan Abrams: “You can’t use any of the typical police tools, right? Can’t use a taser, you can’t use pepper…” Chief Radus: “Guarantee they have not been to any classes on how to wrangle.”

Officer Segura: “…been chasing this pig for a while. Finally got her tired, about as tired as we are right now…”

The incident generates a lengthy number of satirical On Patrol: Live captions/banners, as follows:

  • Looking for a porking sspace
  • Bolting bacon
  • Squals in motin
  • Swine intervention
  • Offending oinker
  • Pork chop pursuit
  • Porky prowler
  • Pig in a blanket
  • Bringing home the bacon
  • Squeals of justice

Officer Segura recap: “So we have no idea where this pig came from. Chasing it around a little bit. But we can rest easy now. We have the pig, quite literally, a pig in the blanket, in the back of our car, and now we just gotta figure out where its owner is, where it belongs. Get it out safely, probably get it some water too. It’s probably just as thirsty as we are. But that’s definitely a first for me. I can say in all my 11 and a half years of policing, never had to chase down a pig at a mall next to a restaurant.” #OPLive host Dan Abrams: “The pig is in custody after an extensive pursuit.”

  • Greene County, Mo. — Detective Travis Sanders makes a friendly traffic stop that is possibly registration related. Det. Sanders to the driver: “There’s a DMV problem or there’s something else wrong with the plates…so I’ll double check with the VIN and everything else.” Det. Sanders adds that “…see if maybe the DMV fat-fingered a license plate digit or something like that. Wouldn’t be the first time that they’ve done that because it’s the DMV.”
  • Richland County, S.C. — Sergeant Bryce Hughes is on scene at an alleged disturbance where a former employee allegedly refuses to leave the premises. Although ambient noise makes the audio of Sgt. Bryce’s recap somewhat difficult to hear, she seems to have resolved the situation apparently or possibly with a trespass notice.

Listen below to Sgt. Hughes’ recap:

  • Idaho Falls, Idaho — Officer Braden Bestor makes a cordial traffic stop on a pickup truck loaded with stuff that has an unsecured, partially obscured plate. Officer Bestor: “It only has one bolt, and so it’s falling down. I can’t read it…” On Patrol: Live host Dan Abrams: “It seems that may be an issue he’s able to straighten out ‘literally’.”

Toledo, Ohio (pre-recorded segment) — Detective Rob Tyburski and Aaron Dudley initiate a traffic stop at gunpoint on car that pulled into the front lawn of a residence. Gun allegedly found in the car. “The gun did go off; we’re not sure if it was accidental or not.” Cops arrest the driver and release with the passenger.

Listen below to Det. Dudley discuss the car stop:

Listen below to Chief Radus explain how Fullerton PD might deploy resources in a similar situation:

  • Bernalillo County, N.M. — Deputy Szabo and other units respond to a motorcycle accident.

Listen below to a preliminary update from Deputy Szabo on the crash investigation followed by comments from Sean Larkin in the #OPL studio about how neighboring agencies handle cross-jurisdiction accidents:

On Patrol: Live Hour 2

  • Richland County, S.C. – In the video clip below, Master Deputy Toddson Catoe ad other units respond a report of vandalism at a residence and then search for a suspect fled on foot.
  • Triple Play # 1 — An intense supermarket standoff in Fullerton, Calif.
  • Baton Rouge, La. — Officer Coleman, Cpl. Javius, and other cops including Officer David Hayden, initiate a traffic stop. Car search. Two guns, a large amount of cash, and watches and other items allegedly found. Police run a check on the guns. The driver ends up released with his belongings and with just a misdemeanor summons as explained below.

Listen below to a preliminary recap from Cpl. Javius:

Listen below to Officer Coleman’s update on this incident followed by Tom Morris, Jr., and Sean Larkin in the #OPLive studio explaining how a portion of one of the guns can allegedly can be stolen but still not be legally considered a stolen weapon (“…the frame is what really matters…”):

  • Idaho Falls, Idaho — Sergeant Brandon Norman and Officer Bestor conduct a traffic stop allegedly for rolling a stop sign. Open container allegedly spotted which is purportedly a potential misdemeanor for a driver. On Patrol: Live caption: “K9 alerted.” Car search. #OPLive host Dan Abrams: “Despite the fact that [K9] Rip alerted, they didn’t find anything.” The driver is released with a warning.
  • Toledo, Ohio — On Patrol: Live caption: “Suspect barricaded in house.” Detective Tyburski and a large group of other patrol cops assist SWAT officers on scene. The subject allegedly fled from the Ohio highway patrol earlier. The subject comes out of the house voluntarily and is detained. Subject: “Why is this happening?…I’m a nonviolent person. I have no criminal record…”

#OPLive host Dan Abrams: “As Sean Larkin predicted, he came out. He seems to be talking as if he doesn’t know why they’re there.” Chief Radus: “I guess time will tell if he really didn’t know why they were there or if they IDed him as the guy that fled from the state police…” Abrams: “…just saying I have no history of violence is a very specific disclaimer, right? It’s not a sort of, ‘I have no idea why you’re here,’ but we shall see.”

Listen below to Chief Radus and Sean Larkin in the On Patrol: Live studio/control center discuss SWAT operators generally and in Toledo specifically:

Listen below to the On Patrol: Live studio panel discuss the SWAT operators’ potential strategy at the location prior to when the subject came out:

Detective James Macklin update: “We came out to assist OSP in the pursuit that we were involved in, probably the guy fled on a motorcycle. He ended up making it to his residence, kind of barricaded himself in the house. We spoke to him through the window, give him multiple commands to come out, which he failed to do so. Some arrest warrants were issued. Our SWAT team was called out, and they eventually made contact with him at the door. At that time, he ended up coming out, surrendering himself to us. That’s when we took him into custody. So right now, he’s being charged with failure to comply, obstruction, and tampering with evidence.” #OPLive host Dan Abrams: “That obviously provides some important context there again about the effort that they made to try to get him out. We’ve heard a reference to it earlier, but there’s some more specifics.”

  • Toledo, Ohio — On Patrol: Live caption: “Responding to assault,” “Investigating assault.” Officer Mike Gee and at least one other colleague investigate on scene at a fast-food restaurant. #OPLive host Dan Abrams: “This guy’s the first one they talked to. He looked beaten up, but then there was a woman inside who seemed to be suggesting that she was the victim here…the investigation continues here….” Security footage to be reviewed. Ofr. Gee: “Called our detectives, and they just told us to do the report. Depending on what happens on the video, we’ll figure out if anybody’s gonna go to jail…tonight.” In the meantime, the male is transported to the hospital.

Listen below to Officer Gee’s preliminary recap plus his abbreviated search for a tooth:

On Patrol: Live Hour 3

  • Bernalillo County, N.M. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Report of suspect barricaded in truck.” Deputy Szabo and other units respond on scene and detain a male next to a truck. On Patrol: Live caption: “Investigating domestic disturbance.” #OPLive host Dan Abrams: “The investigation here will continue.”

Listen below to Deputy Szabo’s preliminary assessment on scene followed by some #OPLive studio commentary:

  • Idaho Falls, Idaho — In the video clips below, Sgt. Norman, Officer Bestor, and other cops in the Neighborhood Police Officer (NPO) unit respond in a downtown area to someone allegedly or possibly passed out at a bar. The possible subject apparently left the bar on foot before cops arrived. On Patrol: Live caption: “Searching for intoxicated male.” Cops subsequently locate a subject who has a ride home on the way. The subject subsequently instead ends up getting arrested.

#OPLive host Dan Abrams: “This is the guy they told to get into an Uber, and the other other guy said he was gonna make sure he got home okay, and apparently he hasn’t gone; he didn’t do it. Now he’s getting a different kind of ride.”

  • Richland County, S.C. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Disabled vehicle.” Deputy Xavier Gonzalez assists the motorist by pushing the car, which ran out of gas, out of the road. Deputy Gonzalez: “Tried to give him a little fist bump, but you saw how that went. It is what it is.”
  • Triple Play #2 — A Parker City, Okla., attempted car assault.
  • Tempe, Ariz. — On Patrol: Live caption: “Weapons call.” In the video clips above and below, Officer Segura and Max Stabb, among other cops, respond to the scene and detain an older male. Officer Segura: “We have a lot of what-ifs right now.” As Officer Stabb explains, police ultimately release the subject when it is determined that a supposed firearm was actually just a flashlight.
  • Greene County, Mo. — As the episode concludes, Det. Sanders makes a friendly pedestrian stop at a gas station.
